New Episode of Alex Corbisiero’s The Scrumdown Podcast Recaps First Round of Six Nations Play with Guest Dan Lyle

STAMFORD, Conn. – Feb. 6, 2020 – NBC Sports continues its coverage of the 2020 Guinness Six Nations Rugby Championship this weekend with matches from Round Two of the world’s oldest rugby championship. Coverage begins this Saturday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. ET on NBCSN, when Ireland faces Wales, followed by Scotland v. England at Noon ET.

Round Two coverage on NBCSN continues Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET, when France hosts Italy at Stade de France in Paris.

The annual tournament, which has roots that date back more than a century, consists of 15 matches played in a round-robin format among six national teams – England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales.

All matches will stream live, commercial-free and on-demand via “Rugby Pass” on NBC Sports Gold – NBC Sports Digital’s direct-to-consumer live streaming product. “Rugby Pass” is available for purchase now for $79.99. The tournament concludes with the fifth and final round of the 2020 Six Nations Championship on Saturday, Mar. 14.

On this week’s episode of Corbisiero’s The Scrumdown podcast, Alex is joined by NBC Sports rugby analyst Dan Lyle to recap Round One and preview Round Two of the 2020 Six Nations Championship.

IRELAND V. WALES – SATURDAY, 9:15 A.M ET ON NBC SPORTS GOLD (10 A.M. ET ON NBCSN)

Ireland earned four points in Round One, topping Scotland at home, 19-12. In his first Six Nations match as the Irish captain, Johnny Sexton scored all 19 points for Ireland. Wales opened their title-defense by earning full points in a 42-0 win over Italy. The victory marked Wales’ eighth consecutive Six Nations win dating back to the 2018 tournament. In their 2019 meeting, Wales defeated Ireland, 25-7.

SCOTLAND V. ENGLAND – SATURDAY, 11:45 A.M ET ON NBC SPORTS GOLD (12 P.M. ET ON NBCSN)

Heading into the ‘Calcutta Cup’ match, Scotland and England both aim to rebound from First Round losses as Scotland opened its 2020 Six Nations Championship campaign with a 19-12 loss at Ireland, while England was upended by France, 24-17. The two nations drew, 38-38, in last year’s Six Nations meeting.

FRANCE V. ITALY – SUNDAY, 10 A.M ET ON NBC SPORTS GOLD (4:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN)

France defeated England, 24-17, at home last weekend to earn four points as they seek to secure their 26th Six Nations Championship. Italy look to bounce back from a 42-0 loss to defending champion Wales last week. In the 2019 Six Nations Championship, France topped Italy, 25-14, in Rome.
