NBC OLYMPICS PRESENTS EXCLUSIVE COVERAGE OF 2020 YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES FROM LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND

Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA to Present More Than 40 Hours of Coverage of Youth Olympic Games

Coverage of Opening Ceremony Begins Tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET

STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 8, 2020 – NBC Olympics will present more than 40 hours of coverage of the 2020 Youth Olympic Games from Lausanne, Switzerland, over 14 days exclusively on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA. Coverage begins with the Opening Ceremony tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET.

The Youth Olympic Games will feature many sports that will be contested at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, including figure skating, alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, curling, hockey, speed skating and short track. Nearly 1,800 athletes from 79 nations, between 15 and 18 years of age, are expected to compete in Lausanne, including 96 athletes from the United States.

Television coverage will be presented on a same-day delay, and concludes on Wednesday, Jan. 22, with the Closing Ceremony. Jimmy Roberts, a veteran of 17 Olympic Games as a broadcaster, will anchor Youth Olympics Games coverage.

Events will stream live on OlympicChannel.com and the Olympic Channel app. In addition, U.S. viewers will have access to extensive live streaming coverage of many events via OlympicChannel.com’s “YOG Channel,” a 24/7 dedicated streaming service, as well as additional streaming feeds from a variety of sports venues.

First held in Singapore in 2010, the Youth Olympic Games will feature 81 medal events across eight sports. 2018 PyeongChang Olympic snowboarding gold medalist Chloe Kim and 2019 world track and field champion Noah Lyles are among the many notable athletes who have previously competed at the Youth Olympic Games.
