STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 6, 2020 – Wednesday Night Hockey is back in 2020 with a doubleheader matchup starting at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers host Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. Coverage shifts west at 10 p.m. ET, when Anze Kopitar and the Los Angeles Kings host Tyler Seguin and the Dallas Stars.
This week’s NHL coverage on NBCSN kicks off tonight at 7 p.m. ET with a clash of two of the NHL’s young superstars, when Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs host Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
Coverage continues Tuesday night when the New York Rangers and Artemi Panarin host Colorado Avalanche and Nathan MacKinnon at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
This week’s coverage wraps up with a Central Division rivalry as Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks host Roman Josi and the Nashville Predators at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
Kathryn Tappen will host Wednesday’s coverage on NHL Live alongside analysts Patrick Sharp and Keith Jones and Bob McKenzie. Tappen anchors tonight’s coverage with Mike Milbury and Jones, Tuesday night’s coverage will be hosted by Paul Burmeister with Jones and Sharp. And Burmeister will anchor Thursday night’s studio coverage with Jones and Mike Johnson.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY – CAPITALS-FLYERS AT 7:30 P.M. ET, FOLLOWED BY STARS-KINGS AT 10 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Flyers (22-15-5) are currently tied with Florida for the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. Claude Giroux leads the team in goals (13) for the season. The Flyers will play Carolina tomorrow night before heading into the matchup on Wednesday. The first place Capitals (29-9-5) host Ottawa on Tuesday and defeated San Jose, 5-4, in overtime on Sunday. Alex Ovechkin is tied for fifth in the NHL in goals (24).
Dallas (24-14-4) currently sits in fourth place in the Western Conference and has won 4 straight games, including defeating Nashville in the Winter Classic on NBC on New Year’s Day. Tyler Seguin leads the team in assists (21) and points (32). Los Angeles (17-22-4) hosts Columbus tonight prior to their matchup on Wednesday on NBCSN. Anze Kopitar leads the team in goals (15), assists (22) and points (37).
Seven-time Emmy Award-winner Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick, who is in his 15th season as NBC Sports’ lead NHL play-by-play commentator, U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk and ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Brian Boucher will call Flyers-Capitals game from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
Chris Cuthbert will handle play-by-play duties alongside analyst James Fox from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
TONIGHT – OILERS-MAPLE LEAFS AT 7 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
Toronto (24-14-5) has won three straight games and sits in second place in the Atlantic Division, six points behind the Bruins. Auston Matthews is second in the NHL in goals (28) and had a goal and assist in their win against the Islanders on Saturday. Edmonton (22-17-5) is in the first Wild Card spot in the West and is coming off a 4-1 win against Boston (22-17-5). Edmonton is in fourth place in the Pacific Division behind Las Vegas (24-15-6), Arizona (24-16-4), and Vancouver (23-15-4). Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are tied for the league lead with 65 points apiece.

TUESDAY– AVALANCHE-RANGERS AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The New York Rangers (19-18-4) will look to snap a three-game losing streak on Tuesday night. Rookie goaltender Igor Shesterkin is slated to get the start and make his NHL debut for the Rangers. The Avalanche (25-13-4) are coming off back-to-back wins against St. Louis and New Jersey and visit the Islanders tonight. Nathan MacKinnon enters the week third in the NHL in points (64).

THURSDAY – PREDATORS-BLACKHAWKS AT 8:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
Chicago (19-18-6) heads into the week following a 4-2 win against Detroit on NBCSN on Sunday and boasts a 7-3-0 record in its last 10 games. Patrick Kane is tied for fifth in the NHL in goals (24). The Predators (19-15-7) enter the week following a 5-4 shootout loss to the Ducks on Sunday on NBCSN. This is the third of five meetings between the Hawks and the Predators after splitting the first two.
Brendan Burke (play-by-play) and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’) will call the action from United Center in Chicago.
