COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Heading into the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic year, Team USA fans can feast on two original broadcasts on NBC over the holiday season and get excited for the Tokyo Games next summer. On Dec. 22, the “2019 Team USA Awards presented by Dow, Best of the Year” will celebrate the outstanding performances and awe-inspiring U.S. athletes of the past year. One week later on Dec. 29, “Milk Life presents, The Next Olympic Hopeful” takes fans inside the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center as elite athletes from across the country compete for a spot on U.S. national teams in a number of Olympic sports.

More than 70 Team USA athletes join Olympic wrestling champion Jordan Burroughs as he hosts the “2019 Team USA Awards presented by Dow, Best of the Year” in Los Angeles. The awards show recognizes outstanding achievements of Team USA athletes, teams and coaches from the past year. The show also features emotional Olympic medal reallocation ceremonies for the U.S. bobsled two-man team of Steven Holcomb and Steve Langton and the four-man team of Holcomb, Langton, Chris Fogt and Curt Tomasevicz, who are awarded their silver medals from the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014. The awards show was recorded live on Nov. 19 at Universal Studios.
“Milk Life presents, The Next Olympic Hopeful”

Next Olympic Hopeful was created by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee to increase and enhance the pipeline of world-class athletes pursuing Olympic sport in the United States. Nearly 4,800 athletes from across the country applied online or participated in tryouts hosted exclusively at 24 Hour Fitness clubs and regional tryout locations. From this pool of athletes, 50 were invited to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs in July to participate in the finalist phase of the program. Following the OPTC tryout, the six winners were invited to join the national team camps for the six participating sports: bobsled, cycling, rowing, rugby, skeleton and weightlifting.
