NBC Sports Launches New Weekly NHL Podcast – Our Line Starts – Debuting This Wednesday

STAMFORD, Conn. – October 8, 2019 – NBC Sports presents the season debut of Wednesday Night Hockey, when Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers host P.K. Subban, 2019 No. 1 NHL Draft pick Jack Hughes and the New Jersey Devils on NBCSN at 7:30 p.m. ET. Coverage continues with the second half of the evening’s doubleheader at 10 p.m. ET, when Drew Doughty and the Los Angeles Kings visit Elias Pettersson and the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. Wednesday’s pre-game coverage begins with NHL Live at 6:30 p.m. ET.

This week’s NHL coverage on NBCSN begins tonight at 8 p.m. ET, as Matt Duchene and the Nashville Predators host Brent Burns and the San Jose Sharks at Bridgestone Arena. Pre-game coverage begins with NHL Live at 7 p.m. ET.

Kathryn Tappen will host tonight’s coverage on NHL Live alongside analysts Jeremy Roenick and Keith Jones. Tappen, Roenick, Jones and NHL insider Bob McKenzie will host studio coverage on Wednesday.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY – DEVILS-FLYERS AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Devils will look for their first victory of the season on Wednesday night behind the play of No. 1 draft pick Jack Hughes and newly-acquired defenseman P.K. Subban. Blake Coleman leads the team with two goals and three points overall through the first two games of the season.

The Flyers began the season with a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL Global Series on Friday in Prague, Czech Republic. Travis Konecny scored two goals and Carter Hart recorded 28 saves in the matchup.

Seven-time Emmy Award-winner Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick, who is in his 15th season as NBC Sports’ lead NHL play-by-play commentator, U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk and ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Brian Boucher will call Devils-Flyers from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY – KINGS-CANUCKS AT 10 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Kings lost their season opener in a high-scoring affair to the Edmonton Oilers by a score of 6-5. Anze Kopitar had a goal and two assists in the matchup. Saturday’s game marked the first for Todd McLellan as head coach with the Kings after spending over three seasons as coach of the Oilers. The Canucks host the Kings in their home opener on Wednesday, following a pair of road losses to Edmonton and Calgary to start the 2019-20 campaign.

Alex Faust (play-by-play) and Ray Ferraro (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call of Kings-Canucks from Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C.

NEW WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY SHOW OPENING FEATURING GREEN DAY’S “FIRE, READY, AIM” DEBUTS THIS WEEK

On tomorrow night’s season debut of Wednesday Night Hockey on NBCSN, NHL fans will be able to get a sneak peek to a yet to be released Green Day song called “Fire, Ready, Aim”. The song will serve as the opening theme song of Wednesday Night Hockey throughout the 2019-20 season and will be featured on NHL on NBC Sports broadcasts throughout the season.

Produced by NBC Sports, the high-energy show open features the band playing their new song on a hockey rink interspersed with action shots of more than a dozen NHL players, including Tuukka Rask of the Boston Bruins, Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks, Dylan Larkin of the Detroit Red Wings, P.K. Subban of the New Jersey Devils, Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Vladimir Tarasenko of the St. Louis Blues and Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, among others.

SHARKS-PREDATORS – TONIGHT AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Through the first three games of the season, the Sharks are paced by Logan Couture’s two points. The Sharks will look to earn their first points of the early season in Nashville, following back-to-back losses to Vegas and a 3-1 loss to Anaheim.

Matt Duchene has recorded five assists in his first two games with the Nashville Predators. Duchene assisted on three goals in his Preds debut last Thursday, helping the Predators win their season opener 5-2 against the Minnesota Wild.

Randy Hahn and Emmy Award-winning ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire will have the call from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
