NBC Sports’ and NASCAR’s #MyTrackMyRoots Grassroots Racing Tour Continues

STAMFORD, Conn.July 24, 2019 – Coming off back-to-back weeks of last-lap thrills between the Busch brothers at Kentucky and Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin at New Hampshire, NBC Sports heads to “The Tricky Triangle” in Long Pond, PA, this weekend to present live “Radio Style” coverage of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Gander RV 400 from Pocono Raceway this Sunday, July 28, at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN. NBC Sports will air trackside coverage starting Friday at 5 p.m., including Xfinity Series racing from Iowa this Saturday, July 27, at 5 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Entering Sunday’s Cup Series race, Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Ford Mustang for Team Penske, leads the regular season standings with 783 points and 2 wins, followed by Kyle Busch (780 points, 4 wins) and Kevin Harvick (691 points, 1 win). They will battle against Denny Hamlin (669 points, 2 wins), Brad Keselowski (663 points, 3 wins) and Kurt Busch (638 points, 1 win). Kyle Busch won at Pocono back in June, his third victory in the last four Pocono races. Logano, Hamlin, Keselowski and Kurt Busch are all past winners at Pocono Raceway.

Last weekend, Kevin Harvick and the #4 team bested Denny Hamlin and the #11 team in a final lap thriller at New Hampshire. It was Harvick’s first win of the season.

NASCAR CUP SERIES RACING FROM POCONO – SUNDAY AT 3 P.M. ET ON NBCSN PRESENTED IN RADIO STYLE COVERAGE

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series coverage begins Saturday 9 a.m. ET with the first practice on NBCSN, followed by final practice at 11 a.m. ET and qualifying at 4 p.m. Coverage of race-day begins at 2:30 p.m. ET with Countdown to Green on NBCSN leading into live coverage of the Gander RV 400 at 3 p.m. ET. NBCSN will present a half-hour post-race show at 6:30 p.m. ET.

For the third straight year, NBC Sports, will present the first of three unique, “Radio Style” broadcasts.  With announcers positioned from vantage points around the track, the assignments for Pocono will be:

*Rick Allen and Steve Letarte – Main broadcast booth

*Veteran MRN and Sirius XM announcer Mike Bagley – Turn 1

*Dale Earnhardt, Jr – Tunnel Turn

*Jeff Burton – Turn 3

This unique and original style will also be presented at Watkins Glen on August 4, and at the Brickyard, September 8.

Serving in their customary race day roles, NASCAR on NBC pit reporters Marty Snider, Kelli Stavast, and Dave Burns will contribute coverage from pit road.

XFINITY SERIES RACING FROM IOWA – SATURDAY AT 4 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

NBC Sports’ Xfinity Series coverage from Iowa begins Friday with first practice at 5 p.m. ET with coverage of the final practice moving over to streaming at 7 p.m. Race day coverage kicks off Saturday at 12 p.m. ET with qualifying, followed by live Xfinity Series racing at 5 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Christopher Bell earned his fifth race win of the season last weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Bell is now tied with Cole Custer for the most victories in 2019.

VIEWERSHIP UP FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE RACE

NBC Sports’ coverage of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway this past Sunday averaged a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 2.819 million viewers on NBCSN, up 12% vs. last year and making it the most-watched sporting event on cable of the weekend.

It is also the most-watched NASCAR race on cable in 3+ months, since Bristol (FS1, 2.814 million, April 7). NBCSN was the No. 1 network overall during the race (3:30-6:30 p.m. ET).

With a thrilling finish in which Kevin Harvick outdueled Denny Hamlin for his second consecutive win at “The Miracle Mile,” New Hampshire peaked with a TV-only audience of 3.238 million viewers for the final 15 minutes (6:15-6:30 p.m. ET). The race delivered a 1.72 HH rating and 2.794 million TV-only viewers.

DALE JR. DOWNLOAD YESTERDAY ON NBCSN

Yesterday’s episode of the Dale Jr. Download at 5 p.m. ET on NBCSN featured Earnhardt family matriarch, Martha Earnhardt, Dale Jr’s grandmother and mother of Dale Sr. They discussed what it’s like to be a racing family and all things NASCAR. The Dale Jr. Download is hosted by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Mike Davis.

Produced on-site at Dirty Mo Media Studios in Mooresville, N.C., the Dale Jr. Download on NBCSN takes viewers couch-side for the taping of the motorsports icon’s weekly podcast, featuring unparalleled perspective, candid commentary, and insight that fans have come to expect from Dale Jr.

NASCAR AMERICA MOTORMOUTHS FEATURES SPECIAL GUEST CLINT BOWYER WEDNESDAY AT 5 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

10-time Cup Series race winner Clint Bowyer will appear on today’s episode of NASCAR America Motormouths at 5 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Bowyer will join Marty Snider and Kyle Petty to answer fan questions about his illustrious career and discuss current topics in NASCAR as well as where he sees the rest of his season going.

Bowyer currently holds the final spot in the Cup Series Playoff standings, with a 17-point advantage over both Jimmie Johnson and Daniel Suarez. Motormouths are all about the viewers, providing regular opportunities for fans to call in to NASCAR America and speak with hosts, analysts, and a rotation of current drivers live on NBCSN.

NBC Sports and NASCAR have partnered to launch the #MyTrackMyRoots Grassroots Racing Tour – a grassroots initiative which celebrates and promotes local tracks across America that have launched the dreams and careers of NASCAR drivers and continue to cultivate a passion for racing in their local communities.

Current and former drivers from the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Gander Outdoor Truck Series will join with NBC Sports and NASCAR to spearhead a nationwide initiative to visit and promote more than 500 local tracks across the country over the next four months.
