Stamford, Conn. – July 11, 2019 – With just over one year until the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, NBC Sports presents more than 350 hours of summer Olympic sports programming over the next month featuring some of the most high-profile athletes in their respective sports, including Simone Biles, Katie Ledecky, Allyson Felix, Christian Coleman and Noah Lyles.

Starting Friday, July 12, through August 11, NBC Sports will present TV coverage of 14 Olympic sports – including swimming, track and field, and gymnastics — across NBC, NBCSN, Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA and their respective digital platforms.

The Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships, the Phillips 66 National Championships, and the U.S. Gymnastics Championships are all part of the 2019 Team USA Champions Series, presented by Xfinity, which includes eight Olympic sports and highlights the journey of Team USA athletes leading up to the Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020) and Olympic Winter Games (Beijing 2022).

Live coverage on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA will stream on OlympicChannel.com and the Olympic Channel app, in addition to NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app. Coverage on NBCSN will stream live on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.

SWIMMING

NBC Sports’ swimming coverage, which begins on Friday, July 12 with open water swimming, comprises more than 190 hours of coverage of the 2019 FINA World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, South Korea. The biannual World Aquatics Championships encompass all major aquatic sports, including swimming, diving, water polo, and artistic swimming. The U.S. is led by five-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky, who holds world records in the 400-meter, 800-meter and 1500-meter freestyle events. Ledecky will be joined by Olympic gold medalists Caeleb Dressel, Simone Manuel, Lilly King, Ryan Murphy, and Kathleen Baker. In addition, NBC Sports presents nearly 15 hours of coverage of the 2019 Phillips 66 USA Swimming National Championship, beginning Wednesday, July 31 in Palo Alto, California. The Championship will feature over 1,200 athletes in the biggest domestic swimming event ahead of the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials next summer. TRACK & FIELD

Headlining this summer’s track and field coverage is the Toyota USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.  The women’s 400m race is expected to feature the return of six-time Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix in her first major meet since giving birth to her daughter in November 2018. The men’s field will be dominated by the world’s fastest man in 2019, Christian Coleman, and current 200m world leader Noah Lyles, who has run faster in both the 100m and 200m than Usain Bolt at the same age (21).  Live coverage begins on Fri., July 26, at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN and NBC Sports Gold and will continue through Sun., July 28, across NBC Sports. In addition, the Diamond League series continues this week with a stop in Monaco, where Lyles is expected to compete in the 100m and face fellow American Justin Gatlin. Olympian Sydney McLaughlin is expected to highlight the American women in the 400m hurdles, while the women’s 100m hurdles will feature an American showdown between world record holder Keni Harrison and 2016 Olympic silver medalist Nia Ali.  Live coverage begins on Friday, July 12, at 2 p.m. on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA and NBC Sports Gold.

GYMNASTICS

July’s extensive summer Olympic sports programming also features four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles at the 2019 U.S. Classic in Louisville, Kentucky. The event will serve as the selection event for the Pan American Games, which begin in late July. Biles will be joined by two-time world medalist Jade Carey, along with several members of the U.S. team that won the 2018 world title, including Morgan Hurd and Riley McCusker. Nearly three weeks later, Biles will lead a star-studded team of Americans at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Kansas City, MO. On the women’s side, Biles will be joined by

Hurd, Riley, and Carey. The American men will be led by five-time U.S. all-around champion Sam Mikulak and 2017 U.S. all-around champion Yul Moldauer. BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD TOUR – GSTAAD, SWITZERLAND

The beach volleyball season continues with an FIVB World Tour stop in Gstaad, Switzerland, this weekend. The Americans are expected to be led by two-time Olympic medalist April Ross and her partner Alix Klineman, who are coming off a second-place finish at last week’s World Beach Volleyball Championships. Three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings and Brooke Sweat will play this weekend as well as they look to earn Olympic qualifying points. On the men’s side, Americans Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena and Trevor Crabb/Tri Bourne are expected to compete as well.

Live TV coverage begins on Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA with the women’s quarterfinals and the men’s finals.

WORLD ROWING CUP – ROTTERDAM, NETHERLANDS

The world’s top rowers descend on Rotterdam, Netherlands, this weekend for the final major competition before the World Championships. The Americans are expected to be led by Meghan O’Leary and Ellen Tomek, who will be looking for a podium finish after placing fourth in women’s double sculls at the last World Rowing Cup event in Poznan, Poland.

TV coverage begins this Sunday, July 14 at 2 p.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.

US OPEN BADMINTON

The US Open Badminton Championships begin this week at Cal State Fullerton, starting with a main draw during the week, and continuing semifinals on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14. The US Open is the largest international badminton competition in North America.
