STAMFORD, Conn. – June 19, 2019 – U.S. track and field Olympian and the world’s fastest man in 2019 Christian Coleman competes at the IAAF World Challenge tomorrow, Thursday, June 20, highlighting Olympic sports programming this week across NBC Sports. All Olympic sports coverage televised and streamed across NBC Sports platforms is presented by Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.

Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA and NBC Sports Gold present live coverage of the IAAF World Challenge series in Ostrava, Czech Republic, beginning tomorrow at Noon ET; NBCSN presents additional coverage at 2 p.m. ET.

At last week’s Diamond League event in Norway, Coleman set the 2019 world-leading time of 9.85 seconds in the men’s 100m. He now owns the world’s best time in the event for the third year in a row and is looking to become the new fastest man on Earth following the retirement of Usain Bolt. He is expected to lead the American team in Ostrava this week.

Paul Swangard will call the action, joined by four-time Olympic gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross and analyst Josh Cox.

VOLLEYBALL NATIONS LEAGUE – EKATERINBERG, RUSSIA (WOMEN’S) & HOFFMAN ESTATES, ILLINOIS (MEN’S)

TV COVERAGE OF WOMEN’S COMPETITION CONTINUES TONIGHT WITH USA VS. RUSSIA AT 8 P.M. ET ON OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA

The FIVB Volleyball Nations League is a global tournament spanning nearly two months, comprising 260 total matches. Sixteen nations per gender play 15 matches each during pool play, which lasts five weeks. The top five teams from the preliminary rounds will compete in the VNL Final Six along with host nations China (women’s) and the United States (men’s). The U.S. women, who are defending Nations League champions, sit in third place with a 11-3 record. The U.S. men won the Nations league bronze medal last year and are currently in sixth place with a 5-4 record after three weeks of play.  Both teams are qualified for sports in their respective VNL Finals.

WORLD ROWING CUP – POZNAN, POLAND

The second stop of the World Rowing Cup begins in Poznan, Poland this weekend. The World Rowing Cup is an annual series of three regattas that act as a lead-up to the World Rowing Championships. The U.S. women are currently second in the World Cup standings in women’s four.

Live TV coverage begins Sunday, June 23, at 4:30 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA. In addition, NBCSN presents coverage of the World Rowing Cup on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET.


EAA TRACK AND FIELD – HUELVA, SPAIN

The 15th edition of the Ibero-American track & field meet will take place in Huelva, Spain this week. Held by the European Athletic Association (EAA), the event serves as a qualifying opportunity for the IAAF World Championships later this year.

ISA WORLD LONGBOARD SURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS – BIARRITZ, FRANCE

OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA PRESENTS COVERAGE TOMORROW, THURS., JUNE 20 AT 9 P.M. ET

The World Longboard Surfing Championships took place along the Bay of Biscay in Biarritz, France. U.S. surfers Cole Robbins (men’s) and Soleil Errico (women’s) led the American contingent to a bronze medal in the team event, while France took home gold.
