INDYCAR on NBC Delivers Best Combined Viewership in Three Years for Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Doubleheader

STAMFORD, Conn. – June 6, 2019 – NBC Sports continues its exclusive 2019 NTT IndyCar Series coverage this Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN with the DXC Technology 600 from Texas Motor Speedway. Pre-race coverage on NBCSN begins at 8 p.m. ET.

Josef Newgarden (Team Penske, 316 points) currently leads the INDYCAR driver standings following a win in Race 1 of last weekend’s Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix doubleheader at Belle Isle. Newgarden holds a slim advantage over Indy 500 runner-up Alexander Rossi (Andretti Autosport, 301 points) and Indy 500 winner and  Penske teammate Simon Pagenaud (291 points). Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing, 264 points) won last weekend’s Race 2 in Detroit and is a three-time winner at Texas Motor Speedway (2008, 2015, 2018)

Live INDYCAR coverage from Texas Motor Speedway begins tonight at 8 p.m. ET with Practice 1 exclusively on NBC Sports Gold’s INDYCAR Pass, which will provide live streaming coverage of all practices, qualifying, Indy Lights races and on-demand replays for the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series season. INDYCAR ON NBC DELIVERS BEST COMBINED VIEWERSHIP IN THREE YEARS FOR CHEVROLET DETROIT GRAND PRIX DOUBLEHEADER

NBC Sports’ INDYCAR doubleheader coverage of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear last weekend across NBC, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app delivered the best combined viewership for the races in three years as well as numerous other milestones, according to Fast National data by Nielsen and digital data from Adobe Analytics.

Race #1 on Saturday and Race #2 on Sunday combined to average a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 929,000 viewers across NBC, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app, up 10% vs. ABC’s TV-only viewership in 2018 (846,000) and the best combined viewership for the two races in three years (2016; 1.205 million). AMERICAN FLAT TRACK RED MILE – SATURDAY AT 1:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

NBC Sports continues its coverage of the 2019 American Flat Track, the most historic form of American motorcycle racing, this weekend at 1:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN from the Red Mile in Lexington, Kentucky.

Featuring the world’s fastest motorcycle racers on dirt battling it out at speeds approaching 140 mph, American Flat Track is the most prestigious and most competitive form of dirt track motorcycle racing in the world. Jason Weigandt (play-by-play) and A.J. Allmendinger (analyst) will call the action.

2019 INDYCAR SEASON ON NBC AND NBCSN

NBC Sports’ coverage of the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series began earlier this year with the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, the first of 17 races to air on NBC and NBCSN during the season.

The 103rd Running of the Indianapolis 500 was the first ever on NBC. NBC Sports’ remaining INDYCAR coverage on NBC includes races at Road America on Sunday, June 23 and Mid-Ohio on Sunday, July 28. The 2019 NTT IndyCar Series championship will be decided on NBC, with the season’s penultimate race in Portland on Sunday, Sept. 1, followed by season finale at Laguna Seca on Sunday, Sept. 22.
