COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS AT BOSTON BRUINS – GAME 1 AT 7 P.M. ET TONIGHT ON NBCSN

The Boston Bruins – the top remaining team in the playoffs in terms of regular-season record – host the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight in their first-ever postseason meeting.

The Bruins advanced to the Second Round after defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs in seven games, capped by a 5-1 Game 7 win in Boston on Tuesday. Brad Marchand led the way for the Bruins with nine points (4g/5a) in seven games vs. Toronto.

The Blue Jackets won their first-ever playoff series after completing a four-game sweep of the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Tampa Bay Lightning, becoming the first team in NHL history to sweep the Presidents’ Trophy winner in the First Round. Matt Duchene led the Blue Jackets with seven points (3g/4a) in the series.

All three regular-season meetings between the Blue Jackets and Bruins came after Columbus made a number of acquisitions at the trade deadline. Columbus won the first matchup, 7-4, on March 12, and Boston won the final two matchups on March 16 (2-1 in OT) and April 2 (6-2).

DALLAS STARS AT ST. LOUIS BLUES – GAME 1 AT 9:30 P.M. TONIGHT ON NBCSN

After both teams completed series upsets in the First Round, the Dallas Stars will travel to St. Louis tonight for Game 1 in their first playoff meeting since 2016, when they also met in the Second Round.

Dallas overcame a 2-1 series deficit in the First Round against Nashville and won three straight games to reach the Second Round for the first time since 2016. The top line of Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov led the Stars offensively, totaling 18 points in the six games vs. Nashville. Former Blues goaltender Ben Bishop is a Vezina Trophy finalist and had a .945 save percentage against the Predators.

The Blues are the first team in NHL history to advance to the Second Round after being in last place at the start of the calendar year. St. Louis avoided First Round elimination after defeating the Winnipeg Jets in six games. Forward Jaden Schwartz finished the series with five points (four goals, one assist), including a hat trick in the Blues’ 3-2 series-clinching victory in Game 6.

Dallas won three of four regular-season matchups against St. Louis this year. Benn recorded five goals in their last two meetings, and Tarasenko scored twice in St. Louis’ lone win against Dallas on Jan. 12.
