STAMFORD, Conn. – February 18, 2019 – NBC Sports presents eight NHL games this week on NBC and NBCSN, highlighted by the 2019 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series on Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, when Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins face Claude Giroux and the in-state rival Philadelphia Flyers at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles.
This week’s NHL coverage features a Wednesday Night Hockey doubleheader on NBCSN beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET, when Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks face Dylan Larkin and the Detroit Red Wings.
Mike Tirico will handle play-by-play duties for Blackhawks-Red Wings on Wednesday Night Hockey, marking the first time he will call an NHL game in his 30-year career. The doubleheader continues at 10 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when Marc-Andre Fleury and the Vegas Golden Knights host Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins.
NBC Sports’ eight NHL games in seven days kicks off tonight with a doubleheader, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning visit Artemi Panarin and the Columbus Blue Jackets, followed by Bruins-Sharks at 10 p.m. ET.
Vladimir Tarasenko and the St. Louis Blues, who enter the week on a 10-game winning streak, will be showcased twice this week on NBCSN. St. Louis will host Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET and will visit Eric Staal and the Minnesota Wild on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET. In addition, P.K. Subban and the Nashville Predators will host Jonathan Quick and the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
2019 NHL STADIUM SERIES – PENGUINS-FLYERS – SATURDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBC
The Penguins and Flyers will face off outdoors in the 2019 NHL Stadium Series at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The Penguins (31-21-7, 69 pts) enter the week tied with Montreal for the two Wild Card spots in the Eastern Conference, while the Flyers (28-24-7, 63 pts) are six points behind Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh defeated the Rangers, 6-5, on Hockey Day in America on Sunday on NBC, as Sidney Crosby posted three assists and Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang each scored twice. The Flyers enter the week with a 12-1-1 record in their last 14 games, including a home-and-home sweep of Detroit this past weekend. That lone regulation loss was a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Penguins, as Matt Murray made a career-high 50 saves in last Monday’s win.
Six-time Emmy Award-winner Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick (play-by-play), U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk (analyst), and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa. Liam McHugh will anchor studio coverage on-site in Philadelphia alongside Mike Milbury, Keith Jones, and Jeremy Roenick.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY – BLACKHAWKS-RED WINGS – 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Blackhawks (24-26-9, 57 pts) enter the week just three points behind Minnesota for the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Chicago has gone 8-2-0 in its last 10 games, but lost to Columbus, 5-2, on Saturday. Patrick Kane continued his torrid pace with a goal and an assist to extend his point streak to 17 games. Detroit (23-29-8, 54 pts) lost to Philadelphia, 3-1, on Sunday on NBCSN. The Blackhawks face the Senators tonight.
For the first time in his career, Mike Tirico will call play-by-play for an NHL game on Wednesday when the Red Wings host the Blackhawks. He’ll be joined in the booth by Eddie Olczyk and ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Brian Boucher. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. ET with NHL Live, hosted by Kathryn Tappen alongside Mike Milbury, Keith Jones and Bob McKenzie.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY – BRUINS-GOLDEN KNIGHTS – 10 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
Boston (34-17-8, 76 pts) enters the week on a five-game winning streak and has gone 7-0-3 in its last 10 games, including a 4-2 win against the Kings on Saturday. Charlie McAvoy netted the go-ahead goal with 1:13 left in regulation. The Golden Knights (32-24-4, 68 pts) beat the Predators, 5-1, on Saturday, led by a pair of goals by Max Pacioretty.
Dave Goucher (play-by-play) and McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
LIGHTNING-BLUE JACKETS – TONIGHT AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
Tampa Bay (44-11-4, 92 pts) has won five straight games and is 15 points ahead of the closest team in the league (Calgary and San Jose; 77 pts). The Lightning shut out Montreal, 3-0, on Saturday, as Andrei Vasilevskiy made 20 saves and Nikita Kucherov scored for the fourth straight game. Columbus (33-21-3, 69 pts) beat Chicago, 5-2, on Saturday, led by two goals from Artemi Panarin.
John Forslund (play-by-play) and McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. ET with NHL Live, hosted by Kathryn Tappen alongside Patrick Sharp and Anson Carter.
BRUINS-SHARKS – TONIGHT AT 10 P.M. ON NBCSN
The Sharks (35-15-7, 77 pts) are tied with Calgary for the best record in the Western Conference and Pacific Division. San Jose defeated Vancouver, 3-2, on Saturday, to notch its seventh win in eight games. The Sharks boast six different players with at least 50 points this season.
Randy Hahn (play-by-play) and Bret Hedican (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.
MAPLE LEAFS-BLUES – TUESDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Blues (31-22-5, 67 pts) are the hottest team in the NHL, riding a 10-game winning streak into their game on Tuesday against Toronto. St. Louis has moved into the third spot in the Central Division, six points behind Nashville. The Blues beat the Wild, 4-0, on Hockey Day in America on Sunday on NBC, as Vladimir Tarasenko extended his point streak to 12 games with a goal and two assists. Toronto (36-19-3, 75 pts) is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games but lost 2-0 to Arizona on Saturday. Auston Matthews has recorded 53 points (27g/26a) in 44 games this season.

The Predators (34-22-5, 73 pts) fell to Vegas, 5-1, on Saturday, but remain in second place in the Central Division behind Winnipeg despite their fourth loss in their last five games. Ryan Johansen leads the club with 53 points. Los Angeles (23-29-6, 52 pts) fell to Boston, 4-2, on Saturday.

Minnesota enters the week with a 4-game losing streak (0-3-1) and losses in 8 of its last 9 games as the Wild cling to the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Four teams (Vancouver, Arizona, Colorado and Chicago) are within three points of the Wild.
