NHL on NBC Host Kathryn Tappen Goes Off The Ice with Brad Marchand
STAMFORD, Conn. – January 14, 2019 – The NHL returns to NBC on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET, when Alex Ovechkin and the Metropolitan Division-leading Washington Capitals visit Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Additionally, NBCSN presents five games in four days, highlighted by a Wednesday Night Hockey doubleheader, as Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins host Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by Sharks-Coyotes at 10 p.m. ET. 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup series champion and Philadelphia-area native Martin Truex Jr. goes “Inside the Glass” for Wednesday’s Bruins-Flyers clash.
Coverage on NBCSN begins this evening, as the Bruins host the Montreal Canadiens at 7:30 p.m. ET, and continues tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET when Zach Parise and the Minnesota Wild host Anze Kopitar and the Los Angeles Kings. On Thursday, Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers will host Kane and the Blackhawks in an Original Six clash at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
CAPITALS-BLACKHAWKS – SUNDAY AT 12:30 P.M. ET ON NBC
The Capitals (27-12-5, 59 pts) have won three of their last four games, and currently hold a two-point lead in the Metropolitan Division. Through 44 games, Ovechkin paces the NHL with 32 goals.
The Blackhawks (16-22-9, 41 pts) aim to snap a three-game losing streak tonight against the New Jersey Devils. On Saturday, Chicago fell to the Vegas Golden Knights, 4-3, in overtime. Kane leads the team in points (60) and goals (25).
Six-time Emmy Award-winner Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick, U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk, and ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire will have the call from United Center.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY – BRUINS-FLYERS AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Bruins (26-15-4, 56 pts) have won six of their last seven games, including a 3-2 win at Toronto on Saturday. Trailing 2-1, Boston scored twice in the second period and Tuukka Rask stopped 30 of 32 shots to hold off the Maple Leafs.
The Flyers (16-23-6, 38 pts) split their last two games, including a 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Thursday. Through 45 games, Giroux leads the Flyers with 48 points.
John Forslund (play-by-play), U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk, and Brian Boucher (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
WNH DOUBLEHEADER – SHARKS-COYOTES AT 10 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Sharks (27-13-7, 61 pts) have won six consecutive games to start the new year, highlighted by wins over the Tampa Bay Lightning and Vegas Golden Knights. Four different players scored in San Jose’s 4-1 defeat of Ottawa on Saturday, as the Sharks improved to 8-1-0 in their last nine games.
The Coyotes’ (20-22-3, 43 pts) three-game winning streak was snapped in a 7-1 loss to the Calgary Flames on Sunday. Clayton Keller (31) and Alex Galchenyuk (24) pace Arizona in points, respectively.
Chris Cuthbert (play-by-play) and Pierre McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz.
CANADIENS-BRUINS – TONIGHT AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
This marks the fourth and final meeting between the Canadiens (24-17-5, 53 pts) and Bruins (26-15-4, 56 pts) this season. Boston won the previous two games, and has won eight of the last nine overall against Montreal.
The Canadiens played their first of three games in four days on Saturday with a 3-0 shutout against the Avalanche. Goalkeeper Carey Price stopped 28 shots to earn his third shutout of the season.
Forslund (play-by-play), AJ Mleczko (analyst) and Boucher (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from TD Garden in Boston, Mass.
KINGS-WILD – TUESDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Kings (18-25-3, 39 pts) improved to 2-2-0 in their last four games with a 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. Kopitar scored twice as Los Angeles snapped Pittsburgh’s six-game road winning streak.
The Wild (22-19-3, 47 pts) are 4-2-0 in their last six games. Parise paces the team in both goals (19) and points (40).
Alex Faust (play-by-play) and Jim Fox (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Xcel Energy Center.
BLACKHAWKS-RANGERS – THURSDAY AT 7 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Rangers (18-20-7, 43 pts) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the New York Islanders on Saturday. Mats Zuccarello netted the go-ahead goal in the third period to seal the victory.
