WORLD SHORT COURSE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

COVERAGE CONTINUES TODAY ON NBCSN & OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA

Seven-time world champion Caeleb Dressel, three-time Olympic gold medalist Ryan Murphy, and 100m backstroke world record holder Kathleen Baker are expected to compete for the U.S. this week in the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Hangzhou, China. NBC Sports’ coverage continues today on NBCSN and Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.

Dressel won seven gold medals at last year’s World Championships, tying Michael Phelps for the most gold medals at a single World Championships. He is expected to compete in four individual events this week. Murphy will compete in all three backstroke events, while Baker will swim in a team-high five events, including the 100m backstroke, in which she currently holds the long-course world record.

FIS ALPINE SKIING WORLD CUP – VAL GARDENA & ALTA BADIA, ITALY

NBC Sports’ coverage of the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup season continues this week with men’s races in Italy. Olympians Steven Nyman and Travis Ganong are expected to headline the U.S. men’s speed team in Val Gardena, while two-time Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety is expected to lead the Americans in giant slalom in Alta Badia. The women’s speed races originally scheduled for Val d’lsere, France, have been rescheduled for Dec. 18 – 19 in Val Gardena, Italy.
Steve Schlanger (play-by-play) and Steve Porino will call this weekend’s action.

FIS CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING WORLD CUP – DAVOS, SWITZERLAND

The FIS Cross-Country Skiing World Cup circuit continues from Davos, Switzerland, as 2018 Olympic gold medalist Jessie Diggins leads the American women, along with two-time Olympians Sophie Caldwell and Sadie Bjornsen, who earned a podium finish in the first World Cup sprint of the year on November 30. Two-time Olympian Erik Bjornsen is expected to lead the American men.
