Notre Dame-Stanford Part of NBC’s “Big Event Weekend” – Ryder Cup Golf, Saturday Night Live Premiere, NASCAR Playoffs & Sunday Night Football

STAMFORD, Conn. – September 26, 2018 – NBC Sports presents the first Top 10 clash at Notre Dame Stadium in 13 years, when QB Ian Book and the No. 8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-0) host RB Bryce Love and the No. 7 Stanford Cardinal (4-0) this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

The Fighting Irish enter their matchup with rival Stanford following a decisive 56-27 win against Wake Forest last weekend to move to 4-0 for the first time since 2015. Ian Book made his second career start under center for Notre Dame, completing 25-of-34 passes for 325 yards and two touchdowns, and rushing for three more scores. Stanford is coming off a 38-31 come-from-behind overtime victory over then-No. 20 Oregon last weekend. Bryce Love rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown in the win for the Cardinal.

Saturday’s meeting in primetime on NBC marks the first game at Notre Dame Stadium to feature two Top 10 teams since the classic “Bush Push” game between No. 1 USC and No. 9 Notre Dame in 2005, which the Trojans won 34-31 in the final seconds. The Cardinal have won the last three matchups against the Irish, including a 38-20 win last year in Palo Alto, Calif. Prior to that, five straight games in this series were decided by one possession. Notre Dame will put its eight-game home winning streak on the line on Saturday against a Stanford team that has already beaten two ranked opponents this season (USC, Oregon)

NBC Sports’ Notre Dame football coverage is part of NBC’s upcoming “Big Event Weekend,” which features Tiger Woods and the U.S. taking on Europe at the 42nd Ryder Cup; the season premiere of Saturday Night Live; the Monster Energy NASCAR Playoffs from Charlotte, N.C.; and an AFC North rivalry battle between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. He’s joined in the booth by Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie, who serves as lead analyst for Notre Dame Football on NBC, and sideline reporter Kathryn Tappen. Former NFL referee Terry McAulay, who recently joined NBC Sports following 20 years as an on-field NFL game official, joins the booth in his first season as an on-air rules analyst.

Liam McHugh will handle halftime coverage of Notre Dame Football on NBC and post-game coverage on NBCSN alongside former college and NFL quarterback Chris Simms (studio analyst).
