NBC SPORTS WASHINGTON TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE OF CAPITALS-BLUE JACKETS FIRST-ROUND NHL PLAYOFF SERIES

BETHESDA, Md. – April 9, 2018 – NBC Sports Washington (NBCSW) will provide comprehensive, multiplatform coverage of the Washington Capitals’ 2018 first-round playoff series against the Columbus Blue Jackets, beginning with Game 1 on Thursday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. NBC Sports Washington’s live-game coverage, along with pregame and postgame shows, will continue to be available on NBCSportsWashington.com and the NBC Sports app during the playoffs.

NBCSW will surround all seven potential first-round games with comprehensive pre-game and post-game studio shows each game night. The network’s playoff coverage starts with a preview special each night this week leading into Game 1. Caps Playoff Preview airs tonight (Monday, April 9) at 7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.; Tuesday, April 10, at 8 p.m.; and Wednesday, April 11 at 6 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington. NBCSportsWashington.com will stream coverage of Caps Practice Live from Kettler Capitals Iceplex on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

LIVE GAME COVERAGE

NBC Sports Washington’s live coverage of the series will begin with Game 1 on Thursday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Capital One Arena. Emmy Award-winning play-by-play announcer Joe Beninati and game analyst Craig Laughlin will continue to lead NBCSW’s live game coverage in the postseason. Capitals home games will also feature Al Koken as rinkside reporter, and Alan May from “inside the glass” for additional in-game perspective.

GAMEDAY SHOWS

NBC Sports Washington will surround all seven potential first-round games with 2.5 hours of live Capitals news, analysis, commentary and entertainment. Caps FaceOff will be presented for a half hour at 6:30 p.m., leading into a half-hour-long pregame show Caps GameTime at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington. Immediately following the games, Caps Overtime will extend postgame coverage for up to an hour following Caps Extra.

The Caps GameTime pregame show and Caps Extra postgame show will be hosted by Rob Carlin, and will feature analyst Alan May, as well as Caps Insider Tarik El-Bashir and other contributors and special guests. Caps FaceOff and Caps Overtime will be hosted by 106.7 the Fan’s Grant Paulsen, with guest analysts including Courtney Laughlin and “hot takes” from Caps fans across the region.

NBC Sports Washington’s digital media properties will continue to feature extensive insider analysis, game previews and recaps, exclusive video highlights, features and interviews, on any device throughout the playoffs across NBCSportsWashington,com and via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snap at @NBCSportsWashington.
