NBC’s Live Primetime Coverage of the Winter Olympics Begins Tomorrow, Thursday, February 8

Two-Time U.S. Champions Nathan Chen, Alexa Scimeca Knierim and Chris Knierim Headline Thursday’s Figure Skating Team Event at 8 p.m. ET

Mike Tirico and Katie Couric to Host NBC’s Coverage of the Opening Ceremony for the XXIII Olympic Winter Games This Friday at 8 p.m. ET

STAMFORD, Conn. – February 7, 2018 NBC Olympics’ coverage of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games from PyeongChang, South Korea, begins TONIGHT, Feb. 7, at 11 p.m. ET on NBCSN, with the debut of mixed doubles curling. U.S. siblings Matt and Becca Hamilton face Olympic Athlete(s) from Russia in a round-robin match.

Wednesday’s coverage on NBCSN also includes men’s downhill alpine skiing training.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8

NBC’s live coverage of the PyeongChang Games begins in primetime tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m. ET – one night before Opening Ceremony coverage on Friday, Feb. 9 – and continues until the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 25 – highlighted by figure skating, qualifying in the men’s and women’s moguls competitions, and qualifying in men’s ski jumping.

Two-time U.S. champion Nathan Chen and two-time U.S. champion pairs’ duo Alexa Scimeca Knierim and Chris Knierim are expected to lead Team USA on the first day of figure skating competition in primetime on NBC. The American team won bronze in the inaugural team event in Sochi.

Women’s moguls will be headlined by American Jaelin Kauf, a 21-year-old who has enjoyed a breakthrough in recent months recording four World Cup podium finishes in six starts. The men’s team will feature Sochi Olympian Brad Wilson and newcomer Casey Andringa.

Thursday’s coverage on NBCSN starts at 2 a.m. ET with mixed doubles curling competition, as Canada takes on Norway, followed by Wang Rui and Ba Dexin of China facing reigning mixed doubles world champions Jenny Perret and Martin Rios of Switzerland.

Coverage continues at 6 a.m. ET on NBCSN, when U.S. brother-sister duo Matt and Becca Hamilton face China’s Wang and Ba in a live mixed doubles curling match, followed by a matchup between China and South Korea. Coverage also includes the qualifying round jumps of the men’s individual normal hill ski jumping event.

NBCSN’s primetime coverage on Thursday begins at 8 p.m. ET, as the Hamilton siblings of the U.S. battle Switzerland’s Perret-Rios, followed by training sessions in the men’s downhill alpine skiing and men’s luge. NBCSN presents a live mixed doubles curling match at 11:35 p.m. ET, as the U.S. Hamilton brother-sister duo faces Jang Hye-Ji and Lee Ki-Jeong of South Korea.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 9

NBC presents the Opening Ceremony of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games from PyeongChang, South Korea, in primetime this Friday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC. Award-winning journalist Katie Couric returns to NBC to co-host the Opening Ceremony alongside primetime host Mike Tirico at PyeongChang Olympic Stadium.

Tirico works his first Opening Ceremony, after serving as host for the Closing Ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics. He served as an NBC daytime anchor throughout the Rio Olympics. Couric, who had a decorated 15-year run as co-anchor of TODAY (1991-2006), returns to co-host her fourth Opening Ceremony after hosting in Sydney, Salt Lake City, and Athens.

NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app, which are powered by NBC Sports’ Playmaker Media, will deliver more than 1,800 hours of live-event and TV simul-stream coverage for the PyeongChang Olympics. In a Winter Games first, NBC broadcast network content will be live streamed, including the daytime, primetime and primetime-plus shows.
