Woods’ Return to Competition Marks Streaming Milestones for NBC Sports

Earlier this month, 14-time major champion Tiger Woods made his return to competitive golf for the first time since February when he teed it up at the Hero World Challenge, after undergoing spinal fusion surgery earlier this year.

NBC Sports’ coverage of the event (airing across Golf Channel and NBC) saw several milestones from a digital and streaming perspective, including:

  • Thursday’s Round 1 on Golf Channel delivered 8.1 million minutes across NBC Sports platforms. The 8.1 million live streaming minutes for Round 1 alone would rank sixth compared to NBC Sports’ full tournament (four day) coverage of every 2017 PGA TOUR event: (Dell Match Play: 8.7M; TOUR Championship: 8.9M; The Players: 13.7M; Presidents Cup: 21.9M; The Open: 100.8M).
  • NBC Sports’ coverage of the Hero World Challenge (Thursday-Sunday) delivered 22.4 million total minutes (+201% year-over-year); 2nd only to The Open among golf events streaming across NBC Sports platforms in 2017.
  • Uniques across the four days totaled 246k, +47% year-over-year.
