NBC SPORTS GROUP CONTINUES FIGURE SKATING COVERAGE WITH GRAND PRIX CHINA THIS WEEKEND

NBC Sports Group Presents 16 Hours of Coverage of Grand Prix China, Third Event of 2017 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series

14.5 Hours of Live Coverage on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA Begins Tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 3 at 3:30 a.m. ET with the Short Dance

STAMFORD, Conn. – November 2, 2017 – This weekend, NBC Sports Group presents 16 hours of coverage of Grand Prix China from Beijing, the third event in the 2017 International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, including 14.5 hours of live coverage on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.

Live coverage begins tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 3, at 3:30 a.m. ET, with the short programs on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, followed on Saturday, November 4, by live coverage of the free programs starting at 2:30 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA. NBC presents coverage of the event this Sunday, November 5, at 4:30 p.m. ET.

The men’s field features three American participants, highlighted by 2017 world junior figure skating champion Vincent Zhou, who makes his senior Grand Prix debut. Russia’s Alina Zagitova, the 2017 world junior champion, and 2017 world bronze medalist Gabby Daleman of Canada headline the women’s field. Three U.S. ice dance teams will compete in Beijing, including two-time world medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bates.

Steve Schlanger calls the action on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, alongside 1988 Olympic bronze medalist Tracy Wilson. Schlanger will be joined by 2006 Olympic silver medalist Ben Agosto for the ice dance competitions.

Andrea Joyce handles play-by-play on NBC, joined by 1998 Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and three-time U.S. champion Johnny Weir.

The Grand Prix Series, now in its 23rd season, consists of six international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Approximately 300 athletes from 25 countries are expected to participate in the series. Each athlete is eligible to score points in up to two of the six scheduled events. The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the 2017 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, set for Dec. 7-10, in Nagoya, Japan.
