NASCAR CUP SERIES RACING RETURNS TO NBC THIS SATURDAY, JULY 1 AT 7 P.M. ET, LIVE FROM DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

 More Than 32 Hours of NASCAR Coverage Including 22 Trackside Hours

NASCAR XFINITY Series Racing Returns to NBCSN – Friday, June 30 at 7 p.m. ET

 

Off Script With Kyle Petty Debuts Friday at 1 p.m. ET

 

STAMFORD, Conn. – June 27, 2017 – NBC Sports Group launches its 2017 NASCAR season this week with more than 32 hours of NASCAR programing, culminating with Saturday’s NASCAR Cup Series race from Daytona International Speedway at 7 p.m. ET on NBC. Throughout the week NBC Sports Group will super serve fans with 22 hours of trackside coverage from “The World Center of Racing,” including XFINITY Series racing on Friday, June 30, at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN, and 10 hours of NASCAR news, highlights and special features.

 

NBC PRESENTS NASCAR CUP SERIES RACING FROM DAYTONA – SATURDAY AT 7 P.M.

 

Saturday’s pre-race coverage will include a special essay on Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his final race at Daytona, voiced by legendary broadcaster and member of 2018 NASCAR Hall of Fame class Ken Squier. In addition, Ato Boldon (@atoboldon) gets his first taste of the racing circuit as he find himself embedded with NASCAR fans in Daytona International Speedway’s infield, and Martin Truex Jr. will take the wheel of the NBC Sports Toyota Camry on-track car for a special pre-race preview of Daytona International Speedway. Features reporter Rutledge Wood (@rutledgewood) brings viewers to Universal Studios’ new Volcano Bay for his recurring “That One Place” segment.

 

NBCSN’s NASCAR Cup Series coverage from Daytona kicks off Thursday at 3 p.m. ET with first practice, followed by final practice at 4 pm. ET. An on-site edition of NASCAR America wraps up the day at 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Friday’s coverage includes NASCAR Cup Series qualifying at 4 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

 

NBC Sports Group’s coverage on Saturday begins at 5 p.m. ET on NBCSN with NASCAR America, live from the superspeedway’s pit road. Coverage shifts over to NBC at 7 p.m. ET with Countdown to Green, followed by live race coverage beginning at 7:45 p.m. ET. After the checkered flag falls on NBC’s first race of the 2017 season, trackside coverage continues on NBCSN with a full hour post-race show at 11 p.m. ET.

 

NBC Sports’ lead race announcer Rick Allen (@Rickallenracing) calls the action alongside Daytona 500-winning crew chief Steve Letarte (@steveletarte), and 21-time Cup winner Jeff Burton (@Jeffburton).

NBCSN’s XFINITY series coverage from Florida begins Thursday with first practice at 2 p.m. ET, followed by final practice at 4 p.m. ET. Race day coverage kicks off Friday at 2 p.m. ET on NBCSN, followed by Countdown to Green at 7 p.m. ET. NBCSN’s first XFINITY race of 2017 begins at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by the post-race show at 10 p.m. ET.

 

In advance of Friday’s XFINITY race, Steve Letarte launches his new “All-Star Pit Crew,” a season-long series highlighting the crew members who ensure the race teams, cars and drivers function at their best. Letarte will showcase three to four stories of perseverance among the NASCAR Cup and XFINITY teams each race weekend. At the end of the 2017 season, in advance of the Championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Letarte will announce his official all-start crew of the season, encompassing various shining starts from different race teams and rosters. Nate Ryan kicks off the series with a special longform pit-crew podcast, set to be released tomorrow.

RIDE TO VICTORY: STORIES OF THE KYLE PETTY CHARITY RIDE DEBUTS THURSDAY AT 10 P.M. ET

 

NBCSN presents Ride to Victory: Stories of the Kyle Petty Charity Ride, an inspirational documentary that chronicles NASCAR on NBC analyst and auto racing icon Kyle Petty’s annual cross-country motorcycle trek, Thursday at 10 p.m. ET.

 

The one-hour documentary follows Petty, along with 200 other bikers, on their 2,400-mile journey from Portland, Ore., to Milwaukee, Wis. The annual Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America raises funds and awareness for Victory Junction, a year-round camping environment for children, ages six to 16, with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses.

OFF SCRIPT WITH KYLE PETTY DEBUTS FRIDAY AT 1 P.M. ET

 

NASCAR on NBC’s Kyle Petty joins Krista Voda to discuss the Petty family name, and what it was like growing up in the auto racing legacy family, in NBCSN’s special Off Script with Kyle Petty. The 60-minute profile dives deep into Petty’s racing career, family life and transition to broadcasting. The insightful special debuts Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET, before on-track activity begins at Daytona International Speedway. An encore presentation of Off Script will air on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

In 2016, NBC Sports Group continued to innovate and entertain race fans with 630 hours of NASCAR programming, including interactive watch parties, documentary specials and new shoulder programming, in addition to its 366 live trackside hours from 22 different states. In 2016, overall consumption of NASCAR content on NBC Sports’ Digital properties was up 50% vs. 2015, and NASCAR on NBC’s social platforms generated a triple-digit increase in video views, as well as double-digit increase in fan base and impressions compared to the 2015 season.
