STAMFORD, Conn. – May 16, 2017 – Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming leads the field as NBC Sports Group presents the 142nd running of the Preakness Stakes, the middle jewel of the Triple Crown, this Saturday, May 20 at 5 p.m. ET on NBC. Game 5 of the NHL Western Conference Final between the Nashville Predators and the Anaheim Ducks will air on NBC immediately following the Preakness Stakes.

Coverage from Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Md., begins this Friday at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN with the Black-Eyed Susan, and continues Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Always Dreaming faces fellow Derby competitors Lookin At Lee, who finished second in the “Run for the Roses,” Classic Empire, Gunnevera, and Hence, as well as “new shooters” including Cloud Computing. With a win Saturday at the Preakness Stakes, Always Dreaming will head to the Belmont Stakes aiming to succeed 2015 Triple Crown champion American Pharoah.  NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the Belmont Stakes begins Friday, June 9.

COMMENTATORS:  NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the Preakness Stakes features hosts Bob Costas, a 28-time Emmy Award winner, and Mike Tirico; analysts Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey, the Hall of Fame jockey and two-time Preakness Stakes winner; analysts/handicappers Bob Neumeier and Eddie Olczyk; reporters Donna Brothers, Carolyn Manno, Laffit Pincay, III and Kenny Rice; and race caller Larry Collmus. Krista Voda will host Saturday’s coverage on NBCSN.

Saturday’s coverage will include a feature on Always Dreaming trainer Todd Pletcher and jockey John Velazquez. In addition, Bailey and Moss will tour the stables to speak with some of the Preakness contenders.

The coordinating producer of NBC’s horse racing coverage is Rob Hyland, who has been a part of the network’s horse racing coverage since 2001. The Preakness Stakes is directed by Sunday Night Football and NBC Sports’ horse racing director, Drew Esocoff. The coverage on NBCSN is produced by Billy Matthews and directed by Kaare Numme. The executive producer of NBC Sports and NBCSN is Sam Flood, who has produced 14 Triple Crown races for the network.
