Chicago, IL (April 11, 2013) – Comcast SportsNet’s digital outlet, CSNChicago.com, will be providing baseball fans with a very special can’t miss online series of “webisodes” from April through September as the network will go behind-the-scenes to chronicle the highs and lows of life in the minor leagues with the Chicago Cubs Class-A affiliate, the Kane County Cougars.

Making its official debut on Tuesday, April 16 exclusively on CSNChicago.com, The Foundation: The Story of the 2013 Kane County Cougars is a bi-monthly online series that will capture the essence of exactly what takes place on a daily basis for the Cougar players, coaches and staff, all of whom have the mindset of getting these players to play one day for the Cubs at Wrigley Field.  This online video series, produced by CSNChicago.com’s Jake Flannigan, Matt Zickus and Scott Changnon, will be primarily shot at the Cougars home, Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva, IL.  “CubsTalk” contributor Tony Andracki will provide an accompanying written piece for every online feature and Comcast SportsNet’s Cubs Pre/Post Game Live host David Kaplan & Comcast SportsNet’s Cubs “Insider” Patrick Mooney will also contribute to this series throughout the baseball season.  Select webisodes of The Foundation: The Story of the 2013 Kane County Cougars will also air on SportsNet Central and Cubs Pre-Game Live during the year.  Plus, fans can follow the network’s @CubsTalkCSN Twitter handle for frequent updates on this special series.

Among the highlights fans can look forward to this season on The Foundation: The Story of the 2013 Kane County Cougars will be focused webisodes on Cougars manager Mark Johnson, a former White Sox catcher, who, along with his staff (which includes pitching coach Ron Villone and hitting coach Tom Beyers), have been entrusted with the task of teaching these young, first-level ballplayers “The Cubs Way,” an initiative created by Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein and his major league staff.   In addition, the series will also focus on Villone, a 15-year MLB veteran, as he works on developing the arms on the Cougars pitching staff to match the organization’s goal of stockpiling numerous pitching prospects for years to come.   Plus, this special series will feature candid interviews with numerous top prospects, which include numerous draft picks from Epstein and his staff, along with player thoughts on one day making it to the majors to play for the Cubs.
