Olympians and Top International Athletes to Compete

STAMFORD, Conn. – November 17, 2016 – NBCSN presents coverage of 2016 Grand Prix China this Saturday, Nov. 19, at 11 p.m. ET featuring performances from the men’s and ladies’ free skate competition in Beijing. Universal HD will present coverage of the event throughout the weekend, beginning tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m. ET with the ladies’ and men’s short competition. Coverage will be streamed on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.

Highlighting the ladies’ competition are 2016 World silver medalist Ashley Wagner, who looks for her second Grand Prix medal of the season after winning the 2016 Progressive Skate America title last month, as well as 2015 World champion Yelizaveta Tuktamysheva and 2015 World bronze medalist Yelena Radyonova of Russia.

The men’s field features three-time World champion and 2014 Olympic silver medalist Patrick Chan of Canada, who won gold at Skate Canada last month,  2016 World bronze medalist Jin Boyang of China, and 2013 U.S. champion Max Aaron.

2006 Olympic ice dance silver medalist Tanith Belbin handles play-by-play on NBCSN joined by 1998 Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and three-time U.S. figure skating champion Johnny Weir.

Grand Prix China is the fifth event of the 2016 International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series. The Grand Prix Series, now in its 22nd season, consists of six international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Approximately 300 athletes from 30 countries are expected to participate in the series. Each athlete is eligible to score points in up to two of the six scheduled events. The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the 2016 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, set for Dec. 8-11, in Marseille France.
