STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 27, 2016 – NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the 2016-17 Aviva Premiership Rugby campaign continues this weekend with a rematch of last season’s semifinal, when two-time defending champion and first-place Saracens (5-0-1) host Leicester Tigers (4-0-2) this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
In addition to NBCSN’s coverage of Saracens-Leicester, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will provide exclusive live streaming coverage of a pair of matches, beginning tomorrow at 2:45 p.m. ET, when Northampton Saints (2-0-4) face Gloucester Rugby (1-2-3). The digital-only coverage continues on Sunday at 10 a.m. ET with Exeter Chiefs (2-1-3) v. Bath Rugby (5-0-1).
NBC Sports’ Leigh Diffey will anchor studio coverage for both NBCSN matches this weekend. He will be joined by analyst and former USA Rugby captain and Premiership Rugby player Dan Lyle, who played eight combined seasons for Bath Rugby and Leicester Tigers.
SARACENS V. LEICESTER TIGERS – SATURDAY AT 3:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
Sarcacens and Leicester have combined to win six of the last eight Premiership Rugby titles, with each club winning three championships since the 2008-09 season. Saracens are coming off a 30-14 win over previously undefeated Wasps, led by two tries by Jamie George, who leads the league with five tries heading into Round 7. Saracens have won 12 of their last 14 matches at home dating back to last season. Leicester defeated Worcester Warriors 34-13 in Round 6 to move into fourth place in the table.
Each weekend, NBC Sports Group will present the most compelling Premiership Rugby matches on the schedule, often preceding or following live coverage of Premier League soccer. The Premiership Rugby season will culminate with live coverage of the league Final on Saturday, May 27 on NBCSN.
