FORMULA ONE EUROPEAN GRAND PRIX HIGHLIGHTS MORE THAN 30 HOURS OF MOTORSPORTS COVERAGE ON NBC AND NBCSN THIS WEEKEND

F1 European Grand Prix – Sunday at 8:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN

Red Bull Global RallyCross Daytona – Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC

Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship – High Point National – Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC

Mecum Auctions – Portland – Coverage Begins Friday at 1 p.m. ET on NBCSN

STAMFORD, Conn. – June 15, 2016 – NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the 2016 Formula One Championship continues this week with the F1 European Grand Prix this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN, highlighting more than 30 hours of motorsports coverage on NBC and NBCSN.

In addition to this weekend’s F1 European Grand Prix, coverage includes Red Bull Global RallyCross action from Daytona, the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship High Point National, and Mecum Auctions’ event in Portland, Ore.


F1 EUROPEAN GRAND PRIX – SUNDAY AT 8:30 A.M. ET ON NBCSN

The F1 European Grand Prix returns to the schedule for the first time since 2012 this weekend, and will take place in Azerbaijan at the Baku City Circuit for the first time in the racing circuit’s history. Lewis Hamilton won his fifth Canadian Grand Prix last weekend in Montreal, his second consecutive win after going winless in the first five races of 2016. Hamilton’s win in Montreal coupled with teammate   fifth-place finish have brought the two-time defending champion within nine points of Rosberg in the Championship standings. The European Grand Prix has been held at various locations, most recently at the Valencia Street Circuit in Spain in 2012.

Coverage begins Friday on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app at 5 a.m. ET with Practice 1, followed by NBCSN’s coverage of Practice 2 at 9 a.m. ET. NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will stream coverage of Practice 3 on Saturday at 6 a.m. ET, prior to NBCSN’s live coverage of qualifying at 9 a.m. ET. NBCSN will present pre-race coverage on F1 Countdown on Sunday at 8 a.m. ET, leading into the European Grand Prix at 8:30 a.m. ET. NBCSN will also air an encore presentation Sunday night at 6 p.m. ET.

NBC Sports Group’s lead F1 broadcast team of Leigh Diffey (play-by-play), veteran analyst and former racecar driver David Hobbs, and analyst and former race mechanic for the Benetton F1 team Steve Matchett will call the action. F1 insider Will Buxton will report on-site from the Baku City Circuit in Baku, Azerbaijan.


RED BULL GLOBAL RALLYCROSS – DAYTONA – SUNDAY AT 2:30 P.M. ET ON NBC

NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the 2016 Red Bull Global RallyCross campaign continues this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET from this weekend’s event at Daytona International Speedway. Lead NASCAR play-by-play voice Rick Allen will make his Red Bull Global RallyCross commentating debut this weekend, alongside Anders Krohn (analyst) and Kristen Kenney (reporter). Tanner Foust currently leads the driver standings through three races, following a sweep at the Phoenix doubleheader and a third-place finish in Dallas.

 

LUCAS OIL PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP – HIGH POINT NATIONAL – SATURDAY AT 3 P.M. ET ON NBC

The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship rolls into High Point National in Mt. Morris, Pa., this Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC. Ken Roczen continues to lead the 450 Class standings, following his second sweep of the season in the class at Thunder Valley. Joey Savatgy re-took the lead in the 250 Class standings, narrowly edging Jeremy Martin with the overall victory at Thunder Valley in Colorado on June 4. Saturday’s live coverage begins at 3 p.m. ET on NBC and moves to NBCSN at 4 p.m. ET.

Veteran play-by-play voice Jason Weigandt, analyst and two-time AMA Pro Motocross Champion Grant Langston, and pit reporter Georgia Lindsay will call this weekend’s action.
MECUM AUCTIONS – PORTLAND – COVERAGE BEGINS FRIDAY AT 1 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Mecum Auctions makes its inaugural visit to Portland, Ore., this weekend, as an estimated 600 muscle cars, classics, hot rods, and more are expected to cross the auction block this weekend. NBCSN will present a pair of live three-hour telecasts on Friday and Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m. ET, as well as a four-hour telecast on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

Scott Hoke will host NBCSN’s Mecum Auctions coverage on-site at the Portland Expo Center, alongside analysts John Kraman, Stephen Cox, and Bill Stephens. Mecum Auctions is led by Dana Mecum, Founder and President of Mecum Auctions for the past 28 years.
