ORLANDO, Fla. (May 3, 2016) – World No. 3 Rory McIlroy will defend his title at the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, with Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson and Adam Scott in the field as well. Jim Furyk also is scheduled to return to the PGA TOUR for the first time since last September after being sidelined with a wrist injury. Two-time major champion John Daly will make his PGA TOUR Champions debut at the Insperity Invitational, after celebrating his 50th birthday last week. And during Golf Channel’s Saturday coverage of the Insperity Invitational, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Lee Trevino will take part in the “Greats of Golf,” competing in an 18-hole scramble format. Stacy Lewis headlines the field at the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic in Alabama, along with Brooke Henderson and Gerina Piller. The European Tour and Ladies European Tour are both in Morocco this week, with the men competing on the Red Course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, while the women will compete on the adjacent Blue Course at the same venue.

McIlroy defends: In last year’s event, Rory McIlroy separated himself from the field to win by seven strokes for his 11th career PGA TOUR win.

Daly Making PGA TOUR Champions debut: Two-time major champion John Daly is set to make his PGA TOUR Champions debut this week, after turning 50 on April 28. Daly earned five career wins on the PGA TOUR. Viewers will be able to tune into Golf Live Extra from 3:15-6:15 p.m. ET during Friday’s opening round coverage to watch Daly in his PGA TOUR Champions debut.
Nicklaus, Player, Trevino teeing it up in “Greats of Golf” scramble during Golf Channel’s Saturday coverage: For the fifth consecutive year, the Insperity Invitational will host the “Greats of Golf” immediately following the final tee time of the second round on Saturday. This features an 18-hole scramble format with: Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, David Graham, Tom Weiskopf, Tony Jacklin, Hale Irwin, Ben Crenshaw, and Dave Stockton.
Woosnam defends: Ian Woosnam defeated Tom Lehman and Kenny Perry with a birdie on the first playoff hole for his first PGA TOUR Champions win.
