CSN MID-ATLANTIC TO CELEBRATE CRAIG LAUGHLIN’S 25 SEASONS AS CAPITALS ANALYST MARCH 18

SPECIAL FEATURES RECOGNIZING MILESTONE TO BE PRESENTED DURING LIVE COVERAGE OF CAPITALS GAME AGAINST PREDATORS

BETHESDA, Md. – March 14, 2016 – CSN Mid-Atlantic will honor Craig Laughlin for his 25 seasons of service as its Washington Capitals game analyst during live coverage of the team’s matchup against the Nashville Predators on March 18, beginning with Capitals Postgame Live at 6:30 p.m. and extending through Capitals Postgame Live.

Laughlin’s milestone and significant contributions to CSN’s coverage of the Capitals will be highlighted through several special features, including a video tribute, interviews with current and former colleagues, and prominent special guests. Laughlin will also be recognized by the Capitals at Verizon Center during the game, which will be presented live on CSN. Fans are invited to celebrate with Laughlin after the game at Penn Commons, a restaurant located adjacent to the arena.

Laughlin assumed his current position for the 1990-91 season, immediately following his retirement as a player. He has now contributed to live coverage of more than 1,500 Capitals games, serving alongside four play-by-play announcers: Jeff Rimer; Kenny Albert; Al Koken, who is currently CSN’s in-game reporter and gameday show host; and Joe Beninati, his full-time partner since the 1996-97 season. Laughlin, Beninati and Koken have now served together in their current roles for 19 consecutive seasons.

As a player, Laughlin spent six seasons as a forward for the Capitals from 1982-83 to 1987-88, appearing in 428 regular-season games, recording 110 goals and 173 assists, and 27 playoff games. He was named as one of the “40 Greatest Caps” as part of the team’s 40th anniversary celebration last year. Originally drafted by Montreal, where he spent his first NHL season, he joined the Capitals as part of a six-player trade with the Canadiens that included Rod Langway on Sept. 9, 1982.

Overall, Laughlin played in 549 games in eight NHL seasons with Montreal, Washington, Los Angeles and Toronto, recording 136 goals and 205 assists. He also spent part of three seasons with Nova Scotia of the American Hockey League and one season in Germany with EV Landshut. A native of Toronto, Laughlin played collegiately for Clarkson University, where he tallied 65 goals and 103 assists in 127 games. He is one of only four Golden Knights to have his jersey retired.

In addition to his position with CSN, Laughlin is an active member of the Capitals alumni association and regularly supports the team’s community initiatives. A longtime youth coach and instructor, he is president and owner of Network Hockey, a year-round development program. He also previously served as co-owner and general manager of the ECHL’s Richmond Renegades. He was named the league’s general manager of the year after guiding the Renegades to the 1994-95 Riley Cup.
