NBC PRESENTS COVERAGE OF THE 2016 AT&T AMERICAN CUP GYMNASTICS COMPETITION THIS SAT., MAR. 5, LIVE AT 1 PM ET

2012 U.S. Olympians Gabby Douglas & Sam Mikulak Highlight the Competition

 NBC Sports Live Extra & Universal HD Present the Nastia Liukin Cup This Friday

STAMFORD, Conn. – March 2, 2016 – NBC presents live coverage of this year’s first international gymnastics competition, the 2016 AT&T American Cup, this Saturday, Mar. 5, at 1 p.m. ET from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Gymnasts from 11 countries are expected to compete in the event, which is part of the International Gymnastics Federation’s all-around World Cup series.

Representing the U.S. are 2015 World team gold-medalist Gabby Douglas, who is also the reigning Olympic all-around champion, 2015 World team gold-medalist Maggie Nichols, three-time U.S. all-around champion and 2012 Olympian Sam Mikulak, and two-time World medalist Donnell Whittenburg.

The international field will feature 2015 World team gold medalist and 2012 Olympic team silver medalist Ryohei Kato of Japan; 2015 World team silver medalist Nile Wilson of Great Britain; 2015 World team bronze medalist Amy Tinkler of Great Britain; and 2015 Pan American Games all-around medalist Ellie Black of Canada.

NBC Sports Group’s gymnastics team of Al Trautwig, two-time Olympic medalist Tim Daggett, five-time Olympic and nine-time World medalist Nastia Liukin, and Andrea Joyce will host coverage.

In addition, NBC Sports Live Extra, NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs, will present live coverage of the Nastia Liukin Cup this Friday, Mar. 4, at 7:30 p.m. ET, while Universal HD will host coverage of the event Friday at 11:30 p.m. ET. Held annually the night before the AT&T American Cup, the Nastia Liukin Cup features 36 gymnasts who qualify through the Nastia Liukin Cup Series, which includes many of the country’s top invitational events held throughout January and February.
