NBCSN PRESENTS CHRISTMAS DAY MECUM MARATHON – MORE THAN 20 CONSECUTIVE HOURS OF MECUM AUCTIONS COVERAGE

Christmas Day Mecum Auctions Marathon Begins at 6:30 a.m. ET with Kissimmee Auction

Mecum Marathon Features Best of 2015 Mecum Auctions from Kissimmee, Indianapolis, and Monterey

 

STAMFORD, Conn. – Dec. 23, 2015 – NBCSN will present a Christmas Day Mecum Marathon on Friday, with more than 20 consecutive hours of Mecum Auctions highlights from 2015.

Coverage begins Friday at 6:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN with the best of Mecum’s Kissimmee auction, which generated nearly $70 million in sales. Highlights from the event included a 1959 Harley-Davidson FLH motorcycle owned by rock n’ roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis, who also attended the auction and helped sell his motorcycle with a live rendition of “Great Balls of Fire.” In addition, the auction showcased vehicles from the storied Wellborn Musclecar Museum Collection, with his 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona approaching the $1 million mark.

Coverage continues at 11 a.m. ET with highlights from Dana Mecum’s 28th annual Spring Classic auction in Indianapolis, regarded as the top muscle car auction in the world. The auction featured nearly 2,000 vehicles, headlined by the lowest-mileage 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda known to exist. Notable consignments included selections from the Don Davis Collection, such as his pair of Shelby Cobra Roadsters, and his 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta, factory built to U.S. specifications and unrestored.

Highlights from this year’s Mecum Auction in Monterey air at 1 p.m. ET. The Monterey auction showcased more than 25 Ferraris, and seven cars sold for $1 million or higher, including a 1969 Lamborghini Miura P400 S, which sold for $2.3 million.
