STAMFORD, Conn. – December 15, 2015 – This Saturday, NBCSN will present what is believed to be the first-ever men’s college basketball and hockey doubleheader played between the same schools on the same day at the same arena. First, the No. 1 Michigan State Spartans, led by head coach Tom Izzo, take on the Northeastern Huskies in men’s basketball at 12:30 p.m. ET at Matthews Arena in Boston, Mass. Following hoops, the floor of Matthews Arena will transition from hardwood to ice for the nightcap portion of the same school, two-sport doubleheader. Coverage of Michigan State – Northeastern men’s hockey begins at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Michigan State G Denzel Valentine and the Spartans (11-0) enter Saturday’s game as the No. 1 team in the country, following a 58-52 win against Florida this past weekend. Northeastern G Zach Stahl and the Huskies (7-3) take the court coming off a 75-62 win over Stony Brook.

Northeastern and Michigan State have never met before in men’s basketball. Northeastern owns four all-time wins against current members of the Big Ten, with the last victory coming on Dec. 22, 2008 in a 55-42 victory at Indiana.
