2015 ISU GRAND PRIX OF FIGURE SKATING SERIES CONTINUES WITH GRAND PRIX JAPAN COVERAGE THIS WEEKEND ON NBC & UNIVERSAL HD

Coverage Begins This Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on Universal HD, Culminating Sunday at 4 p.m. ET on NBC

STAMFORD, Conn. – November 23, 2015 – NBC Sports Group continues its coverage of the 2015 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series with Grand Prix Japan. Coverage begins this Saturday, Nov. 28, at 3 p.m. ET with the men’s and ladies’ short programs on Universal HD, and continues Sunday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. ET with the free dance and pairs’ free skates on Universal HD. Coverage of the men’s and ladies’ free skates begins Sunday at 4 p.m. ET on NBC.

Americans competing in Nagano include 2014 Olympic team bronze medalist and 2015 U.S. champion Ashley Wagner, who placed first at 2015 Skate Canada last month, and 2011 U.S. silver medalist Richard Dornbush.

Highlighting the international field are three-time World champion Mao Asada, 2014 World silver medalist Satoko Miyahara, and 2014 Olympic and World champion Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan, all skating in their home country.

COMMENTATORS: NBC’s lead figure skating broadcast team of three-time U.S. figure skating champion Johnny Weir, 1998 Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski, and play-by-play announcer Terry Gannon host coverage on NBC. Tracy Wilson reports on-site from Nagano, Japan.

 Grand Prix Japan is the last of the six events in the 2015 International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series. Approximately 300 athletes from 30 countries are expected to participate in the series. Each athlete is eligible to score points in up to two of the six scheduled events which have a cumulative point-scoring format. The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the 2015 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, set for Dec. 10-13, in Barcelona, Spain.
