Mackay (Phil Mickelson’s Caddie) and Wood (Matt Kuchar’s Caddie) to Provide Insight from a Caddie’s Perspective During Second and Third-Round Coverage, Nov. 20-21
Mackay and Wood Also Will Appear on Morning Drive Friday and Saturday
ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 12, 2015 – Two of the most respected caddies on the PGA TOUR, Jim “Bones” Mackay and John “Woody” Wood, will walk the fairways at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga. next week at the RSM Classic not with bags over the shoulders, but with microphones in hand for Golf Channel.
Mackay and Wood will join Golf Channel’s broadcast team at the RSM Classic as on-course reporters, giving viewers their unique insight from a caddie’s perspective. Mackay, who is Phil Mickelson’s full-time caddie, and Wood, longtime caddie for Hunter Mahan who will loop for Matt Kuchar for the 2016 PGA TOUR season, will serve as course reporters for second and third-round coverage on Golf Channel, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20-21. The duo also will appear on Morning Drive Friday and Saturday live from Sea Island Golf Club.
“Some of the most interesting moments captured by our cameras and microphones over the years have been the player-caddie conversations from the fairways,” said Tommy Roy, lead producer for Golf Channel on NBC. “Mackay and Wood are both excellent communicators and have helped guide their players to multiple PGA TOUR victories and Major Championships. We look forward to them contributing their unique perspective and knowledge to our coverage.”
“It’s an honor for Woody and me to have this opportunity on Golf Channel,” said Mackay. “We have gotten to know course reporters very well over the years, and we’re fascinated with everything that goes into producing and covering a professional golf tournament. We are looking forward to being a part of the Golf Channel team next week.”
“I’m extremely excited about the opportunity to cover the RSM Classic for Golf Channel. It’s a tremendous honor,” said Wood. “I hope Bones and I can bring a unique perspective to golf on the PGA TOUR and that viewers will find interesting what we as caddies are thinking out on the course.”
Golf Channel will air live coverage of the RSM Classic from St. Simons Island Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 19-22, from 1-4 p.m. ET. Rich Lerner and Gary Koch will anchor coverage from the 18th tower and will be joined by tower analyst Curt Byrum. Matt Gogel and Roger Maltbie will report from the course in addition to Mackay and Wood, and Steve Sands will conduct post-round interviews.
