STAMFORD, Conn. – May 13, 2015 – This week’s motorsports coverage on NBCSN is highlighted by 18.5 hours of Mecum Auctions action from Dana Mecum’s 28th annual Spring Classic auction in Indianapolis, recognized as the world’s original and largest muscle car auction, spanning six days and featuring nearly 2,000 vehicles.
In addition to this week’s Mecum Auctions coverage, NBCSN will present the season opener of the 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, the Hangtown Motocross Classic, this Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.
NBC Sports Live Extra – NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, and tablets – will provide comprehensive streaming coverage of this week’s Mecum Auctions and Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship events.
MECUM AUCTIONS: INDIANAPOLIS – BEGINS TOMORROW AT 12:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
NBCSN’s presentation of the 2015 Mecum Auctions season continues with 18.5 hours of coverage from founder Dana Mecum’s 28th annual Spring Classic auction in Indianapolis, regarded as the top muscle car auction in the world. This year’s auction will feature nearly 2,000 vehicles, including the lowest-mileage 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda known to exist. Notable consignments include selections from the Don Davis Collection, such as his pair of Shelby Cobra Roadsters, and his 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta, factory built to U.S. specifications and unrestored.
Live coverage begins tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, followed by a pair of presentations on Friday at noon ET and 7 p.m. ET. Coverage continues into the weekend, with presentations from Indianapolis airing on Saturday and Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.
NBC Sports Group’s Mecum Auctions telecast team of Scott Hoke, John Kraman, Stephen Cox, and reporter Bill Stephens will call the action. Rutledge Wood will also contribute to this week’s Mecum Auctions coverage.
LUCAS OIL PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP – HANGTOWN MOTOCROSS CLASSIC – SATURDAY AT 7 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
NBCSN kicks off its 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship coverage with a live presentation of the GoPro Hangtown Motocross Classic this Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. Coverage of the event begins Saturday at 1:30 p.m. ET with practice on Live Extra. Race coverage begins at 5 p.m. ET on MAVTV with Moto 1’s before shifting to NBCSN at 7 p.m. ET for Moto 2 coverage.
For the second consecutive year, NBCSN will televise more than 21 hours of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship race coverage and 15 hours of race recap shows. In addition, NBC will present three hours of live coverage, including the Red Bull Tennessee National, Red Bull RedBud National and Red Bull Unadilla National.
Jason Weigandt will handle play-by-play duties, alongside two-time AMA Pro Motocross Champion Grant Langston and reporter Georgia Lindsay.
INDY LIGHTS GRAND PRIX OF INDIANAPOLIS – THURSDAY AT 2 A.M. ET
NBCSN’s coverage of the Indy Lights series continues Thursday at 2 a.m. ET with the Grand Prix of Indianapolis. The Indy Lights series serves as the main developmental series for the Verizon IndyCar Series. In the most recent Indy Lights races at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama, rookie Spencer Pigot won both races to sweep the event. Kevin Lee (play-by-play), Anders Krohn (analyst) and Katie Hargitt (reporter) will provide commentary.
