NBC SPORTS GROUP’S COVERAGE OF THE 2015 AMGEN TOUR OF CALIFORNIA BEGINS THIS SUN., MAY 10, AT 5 PM ET ON NBCSN

Daily Live Coverage Culminates with the Final Stage Sunday, May 17, at 1 p.m. ET

Decorated Former Professional Cycler Jens Voigt Joins NBC Sports Group’s Announce Team

STAMFORD, Conn. – May 7, 2015 – NBC Sports Group presents 16 hours of live coverage of the 2015 Amgen Tour of California, beginning at 5 p.m. ET this Sunday, May 10, on NBCSN and culminating with NBC’s live coverage of the final stage on Sunday, May 17 at 1 p.m. ET.

144 cyclists from 18 elite professional teams compete in the eight-day, more than 720-mile race. Andrew Talansky (Cannondale-Garmin), who won the 2014 Critérium du Dauphiné, leads the field of American contenders.

Top international racers include Mark Cavendish, who has 25 Tour de France stage wins to his name (Etixx-Quick-Step) and Peter Sagan, who holds the all-time Amgen Tour of California stage win record with 11 (Tinkoff-Saxo).

The Amgen Tour of California begins this Sunday in Sacramento, weaving through Nevada City, San Jose, Central California and Los Angeles County before concluding in Pasadena on Sunday, May 17.

COMMENTATORS: Phil Liggett, Paul Sherwen and 2012 USA Pro Cycling Challenge winner Christian Vande Velde will be on site in California to provide commentary and insight for each day of NBC Sports Group’s coverage with reporters Steve Schlanger and Steve Porino (‘Inside-the-Race’). Jens Voigt, who won the Critérium International a record-tying five times and has three top-10 Tour of California finishes, makes his NBC Sports Group debut as an analyst and reporter. Voigt broke the sport’s hour-record (51.115km in 60 minutes) last year before announcing his retirement from professional cycling.
