STAMFORD, Conn. – May 4, 2015 – Tonight’s NHL Stanley Cup Playoff action focuses on the nation’s capital on NBCSN at 7:30 p.m. ET, when Alex Ovechkin and the (2) Washington Capitals host Henrik Lundqvist and the (1) New York Rangers in Game 3 of their second-round series.

John Forslund (play-by-play) and Inside-the-Glass analyst Pierre McGuire will have the call from the Verizon Center in downtown Washington, D.C. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. ET with NHL Live, hosted by Kathryn Tappen, alongside analyst and former player Keith Jones, and NHL insider Bob McKenzie.

GAME 3 – (1) RANGERS-(2) CAPITALS – TONIGHT AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN – SERIES TIED 1-1

 

The Washington Capitals host the New York Rangers tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, as their second-round series shifts to the nation’s capital for Games 3 and 4. The Caps opened up the series with a 2-1 Game 1 victory last Thursday, as Joel Ward scored just as time expired in regulation to shock the Rangers. The Rangers responded in Game 2 on Saturday afternoon, as Derick Brassard scored the eventual game-winner early in the third period, and Henrik Lundqvist made 30 saves in a 3-2 victory.

Of the four second-round series, the Rangers-Capitals series is the only series to be tied after the first two games. Last night, Tampa Bay, Chicago and Anaheim recorded Game 2 victories to go up 2-0 in their respective series.

 

 

LAST NIGHT’S STANLEY CUP PLAYOFF COVERAGE ON NBCSN AND CNBC DELIVERS LOCAL-MARKET RATINGS MILESTONES

Last night’s Stanley Cup Playoff tripleheader on NBCSN and CNBC produced local-market ratings milestones in Los Angeles, Tampa and Minneapolis:

 

  • Last night’s Flames-Ducks Game 2 matchup on CNBC (10 p.m.-12:45 a.m. ET) produced the second-highest rating ever for a Ducks playoff game in Los Angeles (1.5)* on NBCSN/CNBC (tied with Game 1 of the series on Thursday night on NBCSN), only behind Game 1 of the 2007 Stanley Cup Final vs. Ottawa (1.74);

 

  • The Tampa Bay Lightning’s 6-2 Game 2 (6-8:45 p.m. ET) victory over the Montreal Canadiens on NBCSN delivered a 8 rating in Tampa, the highest second-round rating ever for a Lightning game on NBCSN in the market;

 

  • Despite the Wild’s 4-1 loss in Game 2 (8:45-11:15 p.m. ET) to the Chicago Blackhawks, Minneapolis delivered a 14.9 rating – the second-best second-round rating for a Wild game on NBCSN/CNBC behind last year’s decisive Game 6 on CNBC (15.6).
