Eddie Olczyk to Join NBC Sports Group’s Coverage of the 2015 Kentucky Derby

STAMFORD, Conn. – April 21, 2015 – NBCSN and USA Network present a pair of NHL doubleheaders tonight, marking Day 7 of NBC Sports Group’s comprehensive Stanley Cup Playoff coverage, beginning at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when Steven Stamkos and the (2) Tampa Bay Lightning visit Pavel Datsyuk and the (3) Detroit Red Wings in Game 3 of their first-round series.

A trio of Game 4 matchups tonight begins at 7:30 p.m. ET on USA Network, when John Tavares and the (3) New York Islanders host Alex Ovechkin and the (3) Washington Capitals, with the Isles holding a 2-1 series lead. NBCSN’s coverage continues at 9:30 p.m. ET, when Jonathan Toews and the (3) Chicago Blackhawks look to increase their 2-1 series advantage against Pekka Rinne and the (2) Nashville Predators. USA Network rounds out tonight’s Game 4 coverage at 10 p.m. ET, when Johnny Gaudreau and the (3) Calgary Flames host Daniel Sedin and the (2) Vancouver Canucks.

EDDIE OLCZYK TO JOIN NBC SPORTS GROUP’S COVERAGE OF THE 2015 KENTUCKY DERBY

NBC Sports Group lead hockey analyst and veteran horse racing enthusiast Eddie Olczyk will join NBC and NBCSN coverage of the 2015 Kentucky Derby as a handicapper, his first-ever assignment as a commentator at the event, it was announced today. Olczyk previously worked NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the 2014 Breeders’ Cup and the “Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series: Win and You’re In” on NBC and NBCSN. He will serve as a handicapper for NBC Sports Group’s full Triple Crown horse racing coverage this year.

NHL Live begins at 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN, hosted by Kathryn Tappen with analysts and former players Mike Milbury and Keith Jones. Host Dave Briggs will anchor USA Network’s studio coverage, alongside analysts and former players Jeremy Roenick and Anson Carter.


GAME 3 – (2) LIGHTNING-(3) RED WINGS – TONIGHT AT 7 P.M. ET ON NBCSN – SERIES TIED 1-1

The Red Wings return to Detroit tonight to host the Lightning in Game 3 of their first-round series. Tampa Bay earned a decisive 5-1 victory over Detroit on Saturday afternoon, led by Tyler Johnson’s two goals. Detroit goaltender Petr Mrazek will get the start in net for the Red Wings tonight, who have been outshot by a 76-38 margin through the first two games of the series.

John Forslund (play-by-play) and Andy Brickley (Inside-the-Glass analyst) will call the action from Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich.


GAME 4 – (2) CAPITALS-(3) ISLANDERS – TONIGHT AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON USA NETWORK – ISLANDERS LEAD 2-1

John Tavares and the New York Islanders look to carry momentum of their Game 3 overtime victory into tonight’s matchup against Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals at Nassau Coliseum. Tavares scored 15 seconds into overtime on Sunday, the Islanders’ first overtime playoff goal since 1993, to seize a 2-1 series lead over Washington, despite 40 saves from Caps goaltender Braden Holtby.

Kenny Albert (play-by-play) and Emmy Award-winning Inside-the-Glass analyst Pierre McGuire will have the call from Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y.


GAME 4 – (2) PREDATORS-(3) BLACKHAWKS – TONIGHT AT 9:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN – BLACKHAWKS LEAD 2-1

The Blackhawks look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead against the Predators tonight in Chicago, following a 4-2 win in Game 3 on Sunday in which Jonathan Toews (1g/1a) and Marian Hossa (2a) each recorded two points. Nashville will once again be without star defenseman Shea Weber, who left Game 2 with a lower-body injury and did not travel with the team to Chicago.

Gord Miller (play-by-play) and Joe Micheletti (Inside-the-Glass analyst) will call the action from the United Center in Chicago, Ill.


GAME 4 – (2) CANUCKS-(3) FLAMES – TONIGHT AT 10 P.M. ET ON USA NETWORK – FLAMES LEAD 2-1

The Flames and Canucks continue their heated first-round series with Game 4 tonight at 10 p.m. ET. Calgary took a 2-1 series lead with a 4-2 win in Game 3, which included the eventual game-winning goal by 18-year-old 2012 first-round draft pick Sam Bennett. The intensity has been high between the Western Canadian rivals, with the two teams combining for 235 penalty minutes over the past two games.

Chris Cuthbert (play-by-play) and Bret Hedican (Inside-the-Glass analyst) will call the action from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alta.

If tonight’s Lightning-Red Wings game on NBCSN runs past 9:45 p.m. ET, into the start of Predators-Blackhawks, puck drop of Predators-Blackhawks will be shown live on NHL Network until Lightning-Red Wings has concluded. Predators-Blackhawks will return to NBCSN immediately following the conclusion of Lightning-Red Wings.

If tonight’s Capitals-Islanders game on USA Network runs past 10:15 p.m. ET, into the start of Canucks-Flames, puck drop of Canucks-Flames will be shown live on NHL Network until Capitals-Islanders has concluded. Canucks-Flames will return to USA Network immediately following the conclusion of Capitals-Islanders.

As a reminder, all games on NBC, NBCSN, USA Network and CNBC will be live streamed via NBC Sports Live Extra.
