San Jose Sharks Visit Buffalo Sabres Tomorrow Night at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN

College Hockey – Notre Dame Hosts Series With No. 5 UMass-Lowell; Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Live Extra, Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN

STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 17, 2014 – This week’s Wednesday Night Rivalry matchup on NBCSN features a bitter rematch seven-game series from the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, when Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers visit Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden. NHL coverage on NBCSN kicks off tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. ET, when Logan Couture and the San Jose Sharks visit Drew Stafford and the Buffalo Sabres.

In addition to NHL coverage, NBC Sports Group will present a Hockey East showdown in college hockey action, featuring Notre Dame and UMass-Lowell. NBC Sports Live Extra will exclusively stream the game on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by NBCSN’s presentation of the Fighting Irish and River Hawks on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

NBC Sports Live Extra – NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, and tablets – will provide live coverage of Sharks-Sabres, Flyers-Rangers, and both Fighting Irish-River Hawks matchups.

NHL game coverage begins Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET with NHL Live, NBC Sports Group’s NHL pre- and post-game studio show. Kathryn Tappen anchors Tuesday’s coverage alongside analysts Mike Milbury and Keith Jones, while Liam McHugh hosts Wednesday’s coverage with Milbury, Jones, and TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, who joins NBC Sports Group this year with more than 35 years of hockey reporting experience.

 


WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIVALRY
: FLYERS AT RANGERS – WEDNESDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Flyers and Rangers renew their rivalry on Wednesday night for the first time since Game 7 of their opening-round series in the 2014 playoffs, when the Rangers defeated the Flyers 2-1 at Madison Square Garden.

Philadelphia is led by its top line featuring Jakub Voracek and team captain Claude Giroux. Heading into this week’s action, Voracek leads the NHL with 26 points, and rides a 10-game point streak into Wednesday night’s game, while Giroux ranks third in the league with 16 assists. New York counters with Rick Nash, whose 12 goals are tied for best in the NHL with Dallas’ Tyler Seguin, and Henrik Lundqvist, who is tied for the NHL lead with three shutouts. The Flyers will hope to snap a two-game losing streak, while the Rangers face Tampa Bay tonight prior to their Wednesday Night Rivalry matchup.

Wednesday night’s game is also a preview of the NHL’s 2014-15 regular-season debut on NBC, in which the Flyers will host the Rangers in the 2014 Thanksgiving Showdown on Friday, Nov. 28, the day after Thanksgiving, at 1 p.m. ET.

Emmy Award-winning play-by-play commentator Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick, analyst Eddie Olczyk, and Emmy Award-winning ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire will have the call from the Madison Square Garden in New York.

 

SHARKS AT SABRES – TUESDAY AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

NHL coverage begins this week tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. ET with an interconference matchup between the Sharks and Sabres in Buffalo. The Sabres defeated the Sharks 2-1 on Oct. 25 in San Jose, and are coming off an impressive 6-2 win over Toronto on Saturday night. The Sharks look to build off a 2-0 victory against Carolina yesterday afternoon, led by goaltender Troy Grosenick, who made 45 saves to earn a shutout in his NHL debut.

Dave Strader (play-by-play) and Brian Engblom (Inside-the-Glass analyst) will provide live commentary from the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, N.Y.

 

NOTRE DAME VS. NO. 5 UMASS-LOWELL – THURSDAY & FRIDAY ON NBC SPORTS LIVE EXTRA AND NBCSN

NBCSN and NBC Sports Live Extra present a Hockey East matchup this week with two games featuring the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the No. 5 UMass-Lowell River Hawks. The first game of the series on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET will stream exclusively on NBC Sports Live Extra, while Friday’s game will air at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. The Fighting Irish enter action following a series split at Merrimack last weekend, while the River Hawks split a two-game set at Penn State.

Gord Miller (play-by-play) and Pierre McGuire (Inside-The-Glass analyst) will have the call on Friday from the Compton Family Ice Arena in South Bend, Ind.
