CLINT DEMPSEY & SEATTLE SOUNDERS HOST LA GALAXY & LANDON DONOVAN TO DECIDE THE MLS SUPPORTERS’ SHIELD THIS SAT., OCT. 25, AT 2:30 PM ET ON NBC

Chicago Fire vs Houston Dynamo Friday at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN

STAMFORD, Conn. – October 22, 2014 – A blockbuster match between the Seattle Sounders and LA Galaxy will decide the winner of the 2014 Supporter’s Shield (most regular-season points in MLS) this Saturday, Oct. 25, at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC. For the first time in MLS history, the two teams in the race for the Supporters’ Shield will face each other in their final regular season game.

With an edge in the standings through the first tie-breaker (total wins), the Seattle Sounders, led by U.S. Men’s National Team forward Clint Dempsey, need to win or draw against the LA Galaxy to claim the Supporter’s Shield, while the Galaxy need to pull off a win. Saturday will be LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan’s last regular-season match with the team before his retirement.

NBC Sports Group’s lead MLS play-by-play announcer John Strong calls the match from CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Wash., and is joined by former Major League Soccer and U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Kyle Martino and host Russ Thaler.

NBC Sports Group’s MLS coverage begins this Friday, Oct. 24, at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN when the Chicago Fire host the Houston Dynamo and USMNT teammates Brad Davis and DaMarcus Beasley.

Philadelphia Union’s lead play-by-play announcer JP Dellacamera calls the match from Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill., alongside former MLS player Brian Dunseth and CSN Houston reporter Sebastian Salazar.

Strong on Seattle Sounders vs LA Galaxy: “They don’t come much bigger in the MLS regular season than what we have in store on Saturday afternoon, an unprecedented matchup of the top two teams in the Supporter’s Shield standings on the final day. Saturday’s match is also the final regular season game of Landon Donovan‘s storied career, facing off with the other biggest star in American soccer, Clint Dempsey, all in front of a full-capacity crowd in Seattle. The set-up has worked out perfectly, and it’ll be quite a show.”
