“TOGETHER WE MAKE FOOTBALL” FEATURES ARTIST HANG NGUYEN TOMORROW MORNING ON TODAY

NBC Sports Group’s Josh Elliott Reports Live From Levi’s Stadium on TODAY

San Francisco 49ers Host Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football

STAMFORD, Conn. – September 11, 2014 – Tomorrow’s “Together We Make Football” segment on TODAY, narrated by NBC Sports Group’s Josh Elliott, tells the story of San Francisco-based artist Hang Nguyen. Elliott will report the segment live for TODAY from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

This week’s “Together We Make Football” segment tells the story of Hang Nguyen, who was born in Saigon, Vietnam and raised in San Francisco, Calif. While adapting to life in the Bay Area, the 49ers gave Nguyen and her family a way to connect with their new community. Nguyen will always remember “The Catch” - Dwight Clark’s legendary game-winning touchdown reception in the 1981 NFC Championship Game against the Dallas Cowboys. More than 30 years later, Nguyen, who earned an Art degree from Stanford University, is one of the featured artists in the 49ers art gallery and has been commissioned to do an impressionistic portrait of “The Catch,” which will be revealed this Friday.

Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears (0-1) travel to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., to take on Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers (1-0) on Sunday Night Football, in the first NFL regular-season game at Levi’s Stadium. Coverage begins with Football Night In America at 7 p.m. ET on NBC.
ABOUT “TOGETHER WE MAKE FOOTBALL”

NBC Sports teams with TODAY to present weekly “Together We Make Football” segments, telling the most compelling stories of football fans, players, teams and families across the country. The segments air on TODAY each Friday during the NFL season and feature a profile vignette produced by NFL Films narrated by NBC Sports Group’s Josh Elliott. Elliott reports the TODAY segments from the Sunday Night Football city every Friday in the season’s first 11 weeks.

The National Football League’s Together We Make Football campaign invites anyone who has been touched by the game of football – whether as a player at any level, a fan, a group, a team or a community – to share a story of why they love the game. Select “Together We Make Football” stories will be featured on NBC’s Football Night in America studio show.

Those wishing to submit a story can visit TogetherWeMakeFootball.com, a digital community where fans can share their story and see thousands of others. Stories submitted through Sunday, October 19, will be entered into a contest where one “individual” submission and one “group” submission will win a trip to Super Bowl XLIX in Arizona. At the end of the season, NFL Films will produce a “Together We Make Football” special which will air on NBC on Super Bowl Sunday, February 1, 2015.
