Rory McIlroy will look to capture his fourth consecutive win, as The Barclays kicks off the PGA TOUR FedExCup Playoffs outside of New York City in Paramus, N.J. Bernhard Langer headlines the field at the Boeing Classic, coming off his fifth victory on the 2014 Champions Tour schedule last week. The inaugural WinCo Foods Portland Open will offer the final opportunity for Web.com Tour players to secure their place in “The 25,” with the top 25 on the Tour’s money list at week’s end earning PGA TOUR cards for the 2014-15 season. Golf Channel will air all four rounds of the event live and in primetime. Oliver Fisher defends at the D+D Real Czech Masters on the European Tour and Lydia Ko will defend at the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open, a tournament she has won each of the past two seasons. This weekend, Golf Channel will air 14.5 consecutive hours of live coverage on Saturday, followed by 15 consecutive hours of live coverage on Sunday.

FedExCup Playoffs Begin: With the conclusion of the PGA TOUR 2013-14 season last week, the FedExCup Playoffs begin this week and points are reset with the top 125 in the standings eligible to tee it up this week. At week’s end, the top 100 in the standings will advance to play at the Deutsche Bank Championship next week outside of Boston.

Familiar venue: This week will be the third time that The Barclays will be held at Ridgewood Country Club, and the first time since 2010.

Scott defends: Adam Scott finished one shot clear of the field in last year’s event for his 10th career PGA TOUR victory at the time.

Headlining the field: Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott, Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar, Jordan Spieth, Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose and Jim Furyk.

PGA TOUR cards up for grabs: “The 25,” as in the top 25 on the Web.com Tour money list at week’s end, will earn PGA TOUR cards for the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season. The four-event Web.com Tour Finals will begin next week, with another 25 cards at stake based on performance following the conclusion of the Web.Com Tour Championship next month. The Finals will consist of the 26-100 ranked players on the Web.com Tour money list, along with the 126-200 ranked players on the PGA TOUR money list. This is the second year of the Web.com Tour Finals, which replaces the former PGA TOUR Qualifying School.
