NBC SPORTS GROUP AND UNIVERSAL SPORTS NETWORK TO PRESENT 17 HOURS OF ASICS WORLD SERIES OF BEACH VOLLEYBALL FRIDAY – SUNDAY

$1,000,001 Prize Purse; Largest In History of Beach Volleyball

Three Hours of Live Coverage on NBC, Five Hours on NBCSN, Nine Hours on Universal Sports Network

Olympians Kerry Walsh Jennings, April Ross, Phil Dalhausser and Sean Rosenthal to Compete

STAMFORD, Conn. – July 23, 2014 – NBC Sports Group and Universal Sports Network will present 17 hours of coverage of the ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball this week from Long Beach, Calif., — the richest event in the sport — including three hours of live television coverage on NBC, five hours on NBCSN, and nine hours on Universal Sports Network. Additionally, NBC Sports Live Extra will stream all NBC and NBCSN telecasts.

Featuring the world’s top beach volleyball athletes, including eight Olympians, the ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball will bring together the best American teams, along with an array of international talent. Athletes participating in the event include Americans; Kerri Walsh Jennings, April Ross, Phil Dalhausser, Sean Rosenthal, as well as some of the premier volleyball players from Italy, Brazil and Germany. All athletes will compete for the largest prize purse in the history of beach volleyball, $1,000,001.

 

NBC, NBCSN, UNIVERSAL SPORTS NETWORK

Television coverage begins Friday at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN, and continues through the weekend on NBC, NBCSN and Universal Sports Network. The World Series of Beach Volleyball will culminate with the women’s gold medal match, live Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

Olympic gold medalist and veteran play-by-play commentator Chris Marlowe will call the action from Long Beach, Calif. Marlowe will be joined by beach volleyball Olympian and three-time All-American Kevin Wong, who will serve as an analyst. Julie Donaldson will report from the sideline.
