NBC Sports Live Extra App Surpasses 10 Million Downloads

The NBC Sports Live Extra app – NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for mobile devices and tablets — surpassed 10 million downloads this past weekend on the strength of numerous “NBC Sports Championship Season” events, including the Belmont Stakes, the Stanley Cup Final, French Open Men’s and Women’s Finals, Firestone 600 (IndyCar), and Canadian Grand Prix (F1). The app is currently at 10.1 million downloads and growing.

Since its debut prior to the 2012 London Olympic Games, the NBC Sports Live Extra app has streamed some of the most high-profile and prestigious events in sports including the London and Sochi Olympics, all NHL regular-season and playoff games, including the Stanley Cup Final, for the past two seasons, horse racing’s Triple Crown, all 380 Premier League matches this past season, and many more.

“Championship Saturday” Sets Streaming Records for Horse Racing & NHL

NBC Sports’ “Championship Saturday,” featuring California Chrome’s attempt at a Triple Crown in the 146th Belmont Stakes and Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final between the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings,  set streaming records on NBC Sports Live Extra for minutes consumed in each property.

Fans live streamed more than 6.8 million minutes of the Belmont Stakes on NBC Sports Live Extra – a record for any horse race streamed by NBC Sports Digital. Coverage included an isolation camera on California Chrome, bonus analysis from NBC Sports commentators, and replays and footage from the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. The Belmont Stakes was watched by 389,680 unique viewers.

Last Saturday’s Stanley Cup Final Game 2, which ended in the second overtime, delivered 9.0 million minutes of live streaming on NBC Sports Live Extra, the most ever for an NHL game. It surpassed last year’s Stanley Cup Final triple-overtime Game 1, which produced 8.9 million minutes of consumption. Game 2 was watched by 220,411 unique viewers.

Game 4 set the record for an authenticated Stanley Cup Final live stream with 137,708 uniques. It also delivered 5.23 million minutes.

Viewers Stream 2.4 Million Minutes of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Thunder Valley National

Last weekend’s Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championships coverage from the Thunder Valley National in Lakewood, Colo. delivered 2.4 million minutes and 40,000 uniques on NBC Sports Live Extra. Consumption for the Thunder Valley National was up 136% and 61%, respectively, over last year’s event.

GolfChannel.com Surrounds the U.S. Open

GolfChannel.com features expanded editorial content during the U.S. Open this week with up-to-the-minute blogs and fan interaction, including:
