STAMFORD, Conn. – May 30, 2014 –The Los Angeles Kings can advance to their second Stanley Cup Final in three years, and set up a showdown with the Eastern Conference champion New York Rangers, with a Game 6 win tonight against the defending champion Chicago Blackhawks at 9 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Tonight’s coverage starts at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN with NHL Live hosted by Liam McHugh, alongside former NHL players and analysts Mike Milbury and Keith Jones. NBC Sports Live Extra – NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, and tablets – will provide live streaming coverage of tonight’s Western Conference Final action, starting at 8 p.m. ET with NHL Live.

A win tonight would send the Kings to the Stanley Cup Final against the New York Rangers, who defeated the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 last night in Game 6 at Madison Square Garden, as Henrik Lundqvist made 18 saves to earn the shutout. A Blackhawks victory tonight would force a Game 7 showdown back in Chicago on Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

The Blackhawks forced Game 6 with a thrilling 5-4 double-overtime win on Wednesday, despite relinquishing leads of 2-0 and 3-1 during the game. Ben Smith tied the game at four early in the third period, and the game remained even until the 2:04 mark of double overtime, when veteran forward Michal Handzus beat Jonathan Quick to keep the Blackhawks alive and send the series back to L.A. Patrick Kane was a catalyst for the Blackhawks, recording assists on four of Chicago’s five goals, after recording just one point in the first four games of the series.

Kenny Albert (play-by-play), Joe Micheletti (analyst), and Brian Engblom (“Inside the Glass” analyst) will have the call from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

RANGERS DEFEAT CANADIENS IN GAME 6 TO REACH FIRST STANLEY CUP FINAL IN 20 YEARS

After allowing four goals on 19 shots and being pulled midway through the second period in Game 5, Henrik Lunqdvist showed why he’s nicknamed simply “The King,” stopping 18 shots last night in Game 6 to shut out the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 at Madison Square Garden and send the Rangers to their first Stanley Cup Final in 20 years. Dominic Moore scored the lone goal of the game late in the second period, proving to be difference-maker. In their last Stanley Cup Final appearance in 1994, the Rangers defeated the Vancouver Canucks in seven games for their first title in 54 years.

The Rangers will face the winner of the Blackhawks-Kings series, and will begin the Stanley Cup Final either in Chicago or Los Angeles on June 4. Times and networks for the Stanley Cup Final will be announced at a later date.
