VETERAN BROADCAST JOURNALIST JOSH ELLIOTT JOINS NBC SPORTS GROUP

STAMFORD, Conn. – April 2, 2014 — Josh Elliott, news anchor of ABC’s Good Morning America for the past three years,will join NBC Sports Group to work on the NFL, the Summer and Winter Olympics, and Triple Crown horse racing, among other high-profile sporting events, it was announced today.

“We are excited to welcome a talent of Josh’s caliber to NBC Sports Group’s deep broadcast roster,” said Mark Lazarus, Chairman of NBC Sports Group. “He adds further on-air depth to our wide-ranging portfolio of premier sports properties.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining NBC Sports Group, and its already exceptional on-air team, to cover sports that captivate America,” Elliott said. “Growing up, I always wanted to be part of an Olympics broadcast, and this opportunity gives me that and the NFL, Kentucky Derby and many other sporting events to work on.”

Elliott comes to NBC Sports Group with more than a decade of sports experience.  He spent seven years with ESPN, most recently anchoring SportsCenter (2008-11) as the network launched a new morning edition of its flagship program. Elliott previously was an ESPNews anchor (2005-06), hosted ESPN Classic’s nightly Classic Now (also 2005-06), and appeared on numerous ESPN shows beginning in 2004.

Elliott also spent six years (1999-2004) writing for Sports Illustrated, primarily covering the NFL, golf and adventure sports, in addition to reporting on Major League Baseball, the NBA, and NCAA football and basketball.

In his three years at Good Morning America, Elliott covered the Boston Marathon bombing, the 2013 papal conclave, and the 2012 presidential election. Elliott served as host of ABC’s presentation of the Tournament of Roses Parade for the past six years.

Elliott earned a Masters degree from the Columbia School of Journalism and a Bachelors of Arts in English literature from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
