Early-Morning Weekend Coverage on Golf Channel

ORLANDO, Fla., (March 4, 2014) – Golf Channel and NBC Sports will televise nearly 30 hours of live tournament coverage of the WGC-Cadillac Championship this week from the newly renovated TPC Blue Monster at Trump National Doral in Miami. Golf Channel will continue its statistics and technology driven Spotlight Coverage on Saturday and Sunday to complement NBC’s weekend broadcast of the tournament. All of the top-50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking are in the World Golf Championship select-field this week, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson. Golf Channel also will televise the PGA TOUR’s Puerto Rico Open in primetime, where three of the past six winners have claimed their first career PGA TOUR victory. Saturday and Sunday morning Golf Channel will televise third and final round coverage of the Ladies European Tour’s World Ladies Championships in China headlined by Rolex Rankings No. 1 Inbee Park, defending champion and Rolex Rankings No. 2 Suzann Pettersen, Rolex Rankings No. 5 So Yeon Ryu, along with Rolex Rankings No. 7 Shanshan Feng, playing in her native China.

Golf Channel / NBC Sports Offer Extensive Coverage of the WGC-Cadillac Championship: Golf Channel and NBC will broadcast nearly 30 hours of live coverage from TPC Blue Monster at Trump National Doral. In addition to live tournament coverage, Golf Channel’s Morning Drive – the network’s daily news and lifestyle show – will stage its hosts on-site throughout the week. Damon Hack will provide reports on Morning Drive prior to tournament play getting underway, while Charlie Rymer, Holly Sonders and Matt Ginella will offer tournament insight from Doral Thursday-Sunday.

Live WGC-Cadillac Championship News Conference Schedule on Golf Channel (Noon-1:30 p.m. ET): Golf Channel will televise player news conferences on Wednesday (all times Eastern) including: Jordan Spieth (Noon), Rory McIlroy (12:30 p.m.) and Tiger Woods (1 p.m.).

Golf Channel to Continue Weekend Spotlight Coverage Offering More Technology, Player Statistics: Golf Channel’s tournament Spotlight Coverage will continue this weekend, complementing NBC’s tournament broadcast and will focus on holes 15, 16 and 18 of the TPC Blue Monster. Coverage will feature a reverse-L on-screen graphic displaying continuous stats and player updates. Trackman technology offering player driving stats and Pro-Tracer technology to allow viewers to key-in on the flight of the ball once it leaves the clubface also will be featured during the telecast.

Trump/Hanse Course Facelift on Full Display: The field will tee it up on the overhauled Blue Monster this week for the first time in tournament competition since course owner Donald Trump and course architect Gil Hanse completed their course overhaul, which includes new bunkers, redesigned greens and bringing more water into play.

First-Rate Field: The field this week includes all of the top-50 ranked players in the Official World Golf Ranking. The WGC invitation-only field includes 69 players from 19 countries in total.

­­­Woods Defends: Tiger Woods leaned on 27 birdies last year to separate himself from the field, matching a career-best with 100 putts for a 72-hole event in the process en route to his 76th career PGA TOUR win.
