FOLLOWING ARE HIGHLIGHTS FROM TODAY’S NBCSN, CNBC, MSNBC & USA COVERAGE OF THE 2014 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES IN SOCHI:

Tara Lipinski on Davis and White: “That program was pure perfection.”

Johnny Weir on Davis and White: “The pressure was so intense and they handled it beautifully. They fought the whole way through that performance.”

Weir on Olympic pressure in figure skating: “When you’re a team, this is what you’re all about. It’s hard to explain, but that amount of pressure – four years of your life down to four minutes in front of the world. One little thing goes wrong and you can lose the last four years of your life.”

Lipinski: “There was a moment of doubt when the Canadians skated off that I thought – Meryl and Charlie are going to have to bring it.”

U.S. women’s hockey captain Meghan Duggan to Dan Patrick on 6-1 win over Sweden to advance to gold medal game vs. Canada (Thurs., Feb. 20 at Noon ET on NBC): “It’s exactly what we needed. I think [going] in to Thursday night’s game, we’re excited, we’re going to come out with a lot of fire. I think one of the girls on the team after the loss against Canada said, ‘I’d hate to be the team that we play on Monday night,’ and that’s exactly what happened.”

Duggan to Patrick, explaining the rivalry with Canada: “Emotional, passionate. We’re all fighting for something that we’ve been going after our entire lives, and there’s a lot at stake. There are a lot of emotions that fly throughout the games…when we get out on the ice there’s blood in the water and there’s no love lost there.”

A.J. Mlezcko on importance of U.S.-Canada rivalry in women’s hockey: “The rivalry also keeps the sport improving. There’s been such exceptional growth in this game and it’s because these teams meet each other and have such pride on the line – that’s what keeps them coming to the gym and coming to the rink every year.”

Natalie Darwitz on Sweden’s upset over Team USA in 2006 Winter Olympics: “Sweden was a better team, and I think we were looking ahead to the gold medal game against Canada. I don’t think any of us have gotten a great night’s sleep since…it was decided in a shootout. I sometimes question if the Games in the medal rounds should be decided in a shootout, but you know what, they were the better team. I’m glad the producers didn’t show my shootout miss [in the flashback highlight package].”

Liam McHugh: “See it’s a message to Mike Milbury – it pays to be nice to the producers.”

Pierre McGuire on Swiss women’s hockey goaltender Florence Schelling: “Sometimes they should call this sport goalie, rather than hockey, because the goalie can make such a huge difference. Especially when they are as competent as Florence Schelling.”
