Stamford, Conn, – February 9, 2014 – NBC’s primetime coverage of the XXII Olympic Winter Games continues tomorrow, Monday, February 10 at 8 p.m. ET with decorated Olympian Julia Mancuso in the gold medal final of the super combined, which consists of one downhill run and one slalom run. Mancuso, whose three Olympic medals are the most by any female American ski racer, is expected to be in gold medal contention four years after winning silver in this event in Vancouver. In men’s short track, top American and 2010 Olympic bronze medalist J.R. Celski will headline the 1500m gold medal final. Also in primetime on Monday is the men’s moguls gold medal final, an event in which the U.S. has collected a medal at each of the previous four Games, and  the 500m featuring American speed skaters Tucker Fredricks, a three-time Olympian, and Mitch Whitmore, an American record holder in the event.

In women’s hockey, Team USA, fresh off a 3-1 victory over Finland, continues the pursuit for its first gold medal since 1998 in a game against Switzerland live on Monday at 5 a.m. ET on NBCSN. Immediately following the game, NBCSN will present live coverage of men’s speed skating in the 500m gold medal final and women’s luge. In addition, CNBC and USA Network begin coverage of Team USA curling on Monday with the men’s team facing Norway, and the women’s team facing Switzerland. TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 11

During primetime on NBC on Tuesday, February 11, action sports icon Shaun White attempts to become the first American man to win the same individual event at three Olympic Winter Games in one of the most highly anticipated events of the Games — the snowboard halfpipe. Primetime figure skating on NBC continues Tuesday with the pairs’ short program as reigning world champions Tatyana Volosozhar and Maksim Trankov look to reinstate Russia’s Olympic dominance in the event following the 2010 Olympics, where Russia’s streak of 12 straight pairs gold medals (dating back to the Soviet era) was broken. Also in primetime are two events making their Olympic debut: women’s ski jumping, which features 2013 world champion Sarah Hendrickson; and women’s ski slopestyle.

NBCSN’s live programming on Tuesday is highlighted by men’s and women’s cross-country individual sprint gold medal finals, figure skating pairs’ short program, and the gold medal final in women’s ski jumping beginning at 3 a.m. ET. Live on USA Network at 5 a.m. ET Tuesday, Team USA takes on China in men’s curling.

NBC HIGHLIGHTS (Primetime):

  • Women’s Alpine Skiing – Super Combined Gold Medal Final: The super combined, which involves one downhill run and one slalom run in a single day, is the first event on the women’s alpine program. Julia Mancuso, whose three Olympic medals are the most by any female American ski racer, should be in contention four years after winning silver in this event in Vancouver. She’ll have to be faster than a deep field of European contenders, led by German reigning champion Maria Hoefl-Riesch.
  • Men’s Short Track – 1500m Gold Medal Final: The first day of competition in short track speed skating is headlined by the final of the men’s 1500m, one of the two events in which top American J.R. Celski won bronze in Vancouver. Celski will be challenged by Russia’s Viktor Ahn, who missed Vancouver because of a knee injury but won three gold medals in Torino skating for his native South Korea as Ahn Hyun-Soo. Apolo Ohno’s former rival has since changed his nationality and his name, but he remains among the best in the sport. He may have a chance to win Russia’s first ever short track medal.
  • Men’s Freestyle Skiing – Moguls Gold Medal Final: One of the lasting images of the Vancouver Games occurred when Alex Bilodeau became the first Canadian to win Olympic gold on home soil and celebrated his victory with his older brother Frederic, who has cerebral palsy. Bilodeau will look to defend his title in Sochi, but his teammate Mikael Kingsubry edged him for the world title last March. The Americans cannot be counted out either, as they have won a medal in this event in four consecutive Games.
  • Men’s Speed Skating – 500m Gold Medal Final: Two all-out sprints determine who gets gold in this distance. Wisconsin native Tucker Fredricks, who specializes in the 500m, makes his third Olympic appearance in Sochi, where he will be joined on the ice by American record holder Mitch Whitmore.

The 31-year-old Minnesota native was part of the 2006 Olympic team that collected the first U.S. Olympic curling medal and then led the Americans in Vancouver. Norway – whose showing in Vancouver is better remembered for the team’s bold checkered pants than its silver medal – is among the medal contenders.

Standing in his way will be 15-year-old Japanese phenom Ayumu Hirano and a de facto home favorite, Russian-born Swiss rider Iouri Podladtchikov. Known as “I-Pod,” Podladtchikov dubs his signature move the “YOLO flip,” which stands for “You Only Live Once.”
  • Women’s Ski Jumping – Individual K-95 Gold Medal Final: Women’s ski jumping makes its long-awaited Olympic debut. After tearing her ACL in August, 19-year-old Park City native Sarah Hendrickson, the reigning world champion, is attempting to return to full strength in time to become the event’s first gold medalist. The other top teen in the event is 17-year-old Japanese phenom Sara Takanashi, who placed second behind Hendrickson at the 2013 World Championships.
