2014 Fight Night Series Includes Record Eight Top-Level Matches

Friday’s Main Event Features Middleweights Curtis Stevens and Patrick Majewski

Co-Main Event Highlighted by NABF Cruiserweight Title Bout between Thabiso Mchunu and Olanrewaju Durodola

Stamford, Conn. – January 22, 2014 – NBC Sports Group kicks off its third season of Fight Night with the first top-level boxing matches of 2014 on Friday, Jan. 24, at 10 p.m. ET on NBCSN. NBC Sports Group’s 2014 Fight Night action features a record eight matches – seven shows on NBCSN and one on NBC.

The first Fight Night of 2014 features a 10-round middleweight brawl between Brooklyn’s Curtis “Showtime” Stevens (25-4, 18 KOs) and Patrick “The Machine” Majewski (21-2, 13KOs) of Radom, Poland. Majewski, who currently resides in Atlantic City, makes his debut in front of his adopted home crowd against Stevens, who makes his return to Fight Night, at the Superstar Theatre at Resorts International Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, N.J.

Also highlighted on the card is a contest for the North American Boxing Federation (NABF) cruiserweight title between Thabiso “The Rock” Mchunu (14-1, 10 KOs) of South Africa and Olanrewaju “God’s Power” Durodola (15-1, 14 KOs) of Nigeria. Mchunu made his U.S. and Fight Night debut with a unanimous decision upset over “Fast” Eddie Chambers in August 2013, and faces knock-out expert Durodola, who is coming off eight consecutive knock-out victories.

COMMENTATORS: NBC Sports Group’s Fight Night broadcast team of play-by-play announcer Kenny Rice, analyst B.J. Flores and reporter Chris Mannix will call the action from Atlantic City.

FIGHT NIGHT ON NBC SPORTS LIVE EXTRA

NBC Sports Live Extra — NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, and tablets — will live stream Fight Night on Friday, Jan. 24, at 10 p.m. ET.

Coverage will be streamed via “TV Everywhere,” the media industry’s effort to make quality content available to authenticated customers both in and out of the home and on multiple platforms.

Coverage airing on NBCSN will live stream to PCs, mobile devices and tablets through NBC Sports Live Extra, and to the digital platforms of participating cable, satellite, and telco services, via “TV Everywhere,” which is available on an authenticated basis to subscribers of participating MVPDs.

About Fight Night: NBC Sports Network’s Fight Night series is collaboration between NBC Sports Group, Main Events and Hall of Fame matchmaker J Russell Peltz. The series premiered on January 21, 2012 and featured six original broadcasts on NBCSN and one broadcast on NBC in 2012. In 2013, a total of five original broadcasts aired on NBCSN and two original telecasts aired on NBC. The third season of Fight Night features seven original telecasts on NBCSN and one on NBC in 2014.
