NFL Turning Point Examines Patriots RB LaGarrette Blount’s Four-TD Day Against Colts

STAMFORD, Conn. – January 14, 2013 – Four teams are left standing as the NFL playoffs approach championship weekend, and NFL Turning Point breaks down how each team moved within one step of Super Bowl XLVIII, with a brand new episode this week, debuting Wednesday at 11 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

NFL Turning Point, hosted by Football Night In America’s Dan Patrick, examines last week’s Divisional weekend, in which the Broncos, Seahawks and Patriots all won at home, while the 49ers upended the Panthers to create an NFC West showdown in the NFC Championship Game.

This week’s episode begins in Denver, where QB Peyton Manning and the Broncos defeated the AFC West-rival San Diego Chargers to advance. NFL Turning Point examines how the Broncos created pressure with their pass rush to disrupt QB Philip Rivers to build a 14-0 halftime lead. The program discusses how San Diego stormed back with a 17-point fourth quarter, but ultimately fell short, as Manning found TE Julius Thomas twice on third down during Denver’s final possession to preserve the win.

The program shifts north to Seattle and studies Saints-Seahawks, examining how the Seahawks defense limited QB Drew Brees and the Saints offense for much of the game. The Saints drew within a possession late in the fourth quarter, but QB Russell Wilson found WR Doug Baldwin for a 24-yard completion on third-and-short, followed by RB Marshawn Lynch’s 31-yard touchdown run to put the game out of reach.

NFL Turning Point reviews 49ers-Panthers, where San Francisco’s defense shut out the Carolina offense in the second half en route to a 23-10 victory in Charlotte. The program concludes with a look back at Colts-Patriots, as Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount rushed for four touchdowns and the New England defense intercepted Indianapolis QB Andrew Luck four times in a 43-22 Patriots win.

This week’s episode features audio from all four divisional playoff matchups, as Brees, Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno, 49ers TE Vernon Davis, Colts DE Cory Redding, Patriots WR Julian Edelman and Seahawks DB Earl Thomas were all wired for sound.
