Team Format: The event is modeled after a Ryder Cup-esque format featuring a session of foursome matches, four-ball matches as well as final day of singles matches for Team Europe vs. Team Asia.
Recent History: This is the seventh edition of the Royal Trophy, which honors the late Seve Ballesteros. The most recent edition was the first ever requiring a playoff, with Team Asia ultimately winning the title.
