MONTE POOLE JOINS COMCAST SPORTSNET BAY AREA, CSNBAYAREA.COM AS “WARRIORS INSIDER”

Poole to Cover the Golden State Warriors for CSNBayArea.com and Contribute On-Air

Warriors Postgame Live and other NBA Programming

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 7, 2013) – Comcast SportsNet Bay Area (@CSNAuthentic), part of the NBC Sports Group and the online and on-air home of “Authentic Bay Area Sports,” today named veteran sports journalist Monte Poole (@MontePooleCSN) the network’s Warriors Insider.  In his new role, Poole will provide coverage of the Golden State Warriors across the network’s growing list of multiplatform outlets, including CSNBayArea.com’s “WarriorsTalk” section and on-air for SportsNet Central, Yahoo! SportsTalk Live, Warriors Pregame Live, Warriors Postgame Live and other NBA related programming.  He will make his debut during tonight’s Warriors-Kings preseason game on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area at 7:30 p.m. PDT.  The announcement was made by Nancy Gay, Digital Managing Editor for CSNBayArea.com and CSNCalifornia.com.

Poole, a native of Oakland, Calif., is one of the nation’s premier sports journalists, has been a fixture in Bay Area sports media for over two decades and is the foremost authority on the Oakland sports scene.  He comes to the network from the Oakland Tribune/Bay Area News Group, where he began his career in 1985 covering high school sports; in 1991, he was promoted to sports columnist.  He spent the next 22 years as an award-winning columnist covering a wide variety of events, including multiple Super Bowls, World Series, NBA Finals and championship fights.  Poole is a graduate of CastlemontHigh School in Oakland and he received his Bachelor of Science in Journalism from San JoseStateUniversity.

2013-14 Golden State Warriors on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area: Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, the exclusive television home for Warriors games in Northern California, will televise a total of 78 contests (76 regular season, two preseason) during the 2013-14 season, beginning with the team’s first home preseason game against the Sacramento Kings on Oct. 7 (7:30 p.m. PDT) followed by a special live telecast from Shanghai, China, where the Warriors face the Los Angeles Lakers on Oct. 18 (4:30 a.m. PDT, re-airing at 7:30 p.m. PDT).

Warriors Pregame Live, Warriors Postgame Live:  In addition to live game coverage, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area will deliver comprehensive pre-game and post-game analysis anchored by three-time California Sportscaster of the Year Greg Papa and former Warriors general manager and head coach Garry St. Jean, along with Warriors Insider Monte Poole.  Thirty minutes prior to the game, fans can catch the latest team developments, interviews, game previews and opposing team analysis on Warriors Pregame Live. Immediately following the game, Warriors Postgame Live will give viewers an in-depth game breakdown with stats and highlights, locker room interviews and a preview of the next game.
